The Best 6 Sportsbook Apps To Enter Louisiana Sports Betting Market

Louisiana is, of course, one of the top SEC states in the land. Along with the New Orleans professional teams, it’s a state expected to do a lot of college sports betting business, including LSU Tigers football, for which Saturday Down South religiously covers.

There will be six sports betting apps that will enter the Louisiana online sports betting market once it officially gets the green light.

1. DraftKings Sportsbook

States: MI, NY, NJ, PA, CT, AZ, CO, IL, IN, IA, MD, NH, TN, VA, WV

While FanDuel Sportsbook is currently touted as Saturday Down South’s top operator choice, nobody can go wrong in selecting to use DraftKings Sportsbook.

From humble daily fantasy beginnings that mirror FanDuel, DraftKings has turned itself into one of the nation’s online sports betting powerhouses. Obviously, DraftKings is ready to pounce on the SEC-rich Louisiana as well.

Louisiana residents can grab a $1,050 Sportsbook Bonus by registering with DraftKings Sportsbook today.

2. Caesars Sportsbook

Caesars Sportsbook

No operator has as much momentum right now as Caesars Sportsbook. The longstanding gaming company has been rolling in the online sports betting world since its massive purchase of William Hill this past year.

Louisiana residents can register now with Caesars and get up to $1,250 on Caesars today, as well as daily odds boosts, same-game parlays, and other bonus bet specials.

BetMGM is the online sports gambling platform of the famed MGM Resorts and Casinos. This means the sports gambler can expect a veteran-like gaming experience.

Vegas veterans are surely familiar with the brand, and once the BetMGM Sportsbook launches online in Louisiana, those gaming veterans should thoroughly enjoy the platform’s initial offerings. BetMGM is currently and already operating in many states.

5. Barstool Sportsbook Louisiana

Barstool Sportsbook

States: OH, MD, LA, CO, IL, IN, MI, NJ, PA, VA, TN, AZ, IA, WV

The self-proclaimed self-disruptors of the sports media world are now attempting to create the same noise in the burgeoning online sports betting world.

Although Barstool Sportsbook found itself shut out of the New York market, at least as it pertains to the initial sportsbook inclusion, it’s ready to roll in Louisiana, the college football-rich state that features the SEC-dwelling LSU Tigers.

6. BetRivers Sportsbook

BetRivers Louisiana will be ready to roll on day one. When Louisiana online sports betting launched on Friday, Jan. 28, 2022, at 8 a.m. CT, BetRivers entered the market immediately.

Louisiana Online Sports Betting Timeline: How We Got Here

The road to legal Louisiana online sports betting has been a long one, but it’s also one that continues to move forward with plenty of optimism.

January 2022: Louisiana online sports betting launched on Friday, Jan. 28, 2022, at 8 a.m. CT. Six online sportsbooks, FanDuel, DraftKings, Caesars, BetMGM, Barstool and BetRivers, all went live on day one.

Ronnie Johns, the Louisiana Gaming Control Board chair, dispelled rumors that mobile sports betting could launch as soon as the first or second week of January 2022. Johns reiterated that the goal is to launch Louisiana mobile sports betting prior to Super Bowl 56 (set to be played on Feb. 13, 2022).

December 2021: A Louisiana Gaming Control Board revenue report revealed that eight retail sportsbooks took $27.6 million in bets during the first month of operation. A report by the Louisiana State Police later said all but one possible licensee had submitted their applications, and it too was pending. Additionally, the State Police are working on mobile licensing, with hopes of a January 2022 launch.

November 2021: Four physical locations receive sportsbook licenses to begin in-person sports betting.

October 2021: Although legal online sports betting has yet to launch, FanDuel Sportsbook, DraftKings Sportsbook and Caesars Sportsbook launch pre-register promos.

September 2021: After Hurricane Ida, sometime in October, is the first projected go-live date.

August 2021: The Louisiana Gaming Control Board approved emergency rules (Aug. 23). The licensing process thus starts and allows for permanent rules to eventually be established.

June 2021: Governor John Bel Edwards signs House Bill 697. It is enacted as Act 80. Suddenly, up to 41 online sportsbooks to launch in the state were allowed.

November 2020: 55 out of 64 parishes vote yes to online sports betting, allowing it to launch in those locations. Louisiana Gaming Control Board received the power to regulate sports gambling in the state.

May 2020: The new sports betting bill passes in the House. Two weeks later, it then passed in the senate. This paved the way for a ballot measure that asked each parish its wishes on legalizing sports betting.

March 2020: A newly constructed state legislature provides the optimism for a new bill to be introduced to the House.

June 2019: The state’s first attempt to legalize online sports betting fails. The state legislature may have approved daily fantasy sports, but the idea that online sports betting was included may been the thing that shut it down.

March 2019: The House offers up a bill that features Daily Fantasy Sports. It was the first move en route to softening the blow for legal online sports betting.

May 2018: PASPA is officially overturned by SCOTUS. The law that banned sports betting throughout the United States is suddenly a thing of the past. Projected Louisiana Online Sports Betting Revenue.

Notable Louisiana College Football Teams

Hey, this is Saturday Down South, so Louisiana college football is something of a religion around these parts. And, naturally, the first team on the list should come as no surprise.

LSU Tigers Football

The LSU Tigers have been a mainstay in the SEC and the FBS (or NCAA Division 1 football, as it was previously known) for as long as one could remember. With four claimed National Championships, five unclaimed titles, 16 conference championships and nine division crowns, LSU remains a football college powerhouse.

Other College Sports Teams:

Louisiana Pro Teams

New Orleans Saints

Who Dat? That’s the New Orleans Saints. Although Drew Brees is gone, Sean Payton and company are still getting it done at the ultimate football level. How the NFC South shakes out in 2021 is still very much up for debate, despite Tom Brady’s presence in the division.

New Orleans Pelicans

Is there a more athletic human in history than Zion Williamson? Perhaps. A younger LeBron James comes to mind. But this kid’s athleticism, combined with his size, makes the New Orleans Pelicans a sleeping giant.
