Nick Saban has made an effort to kick the tires on a favored candidate for the Alabama fan base for the defensive coordinator role.
Dennis Dodd of CBS Sports has reported that Saban has reached out to former Tennessee coach Jeremy Pruitt about the Crimson Tide’s vacant defensive coordinator position. It is believed no offer has been made at this time, and Alabama would not speak on Pruitt’s candidacy when contacted for comment. While Pruitt is believed to be the top candidate for the Alabama fans, who want the defense to return to the levels it enjoyed when Pruitt was on staff in 2017.
Dodd noted that Pruitt’s candidacy is questionable as it is unknown whether he would be allowed to accept the job if offered.
Sources indicate Pruitt would face long odds to getting hired by the Tide as the subject of an ongoing NCAA investigation. He was fired at Tennessee two years ago as the NCAA levied allegations of 18 Level I violations on the Volunteers. Level I violations are most serious on the NCAA’s scale of infractions.
An SEC bylaw suggests that Alabama would need to consult with SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey if a major infraction comes into play.

If Stankey dared to try and block Saban from hiring Pruitt, Saban would give him a wedgie, smack him in the face and have him facing termination before the end of the day. Saban runs the SCEC. Stankey is just his shoe shine boy.

Saban owns Stankey, if Nick wants JP, Nick gets JP, end of discussion. I personally think 3rd and G is the better option, no permission other than mine required for that hire...permission granted!
I think you're spot on, but it would be nice to see Sankey stand up to Saban just once, even if it's something as remedial as a coord hire.
Try stating something other than an uneducated opinion. Saban wanted to hire Freeze as an OC but was blocked by Sankey. I’m still waiting for an explanation of your Sankey & SEC bashing. I wonder if you are going ignore the question again or move the goal posts.
When the powers that be allowed AU to hire Freeze that lowered the bar to anybody not named H!tler, Bundy or Manson.

Freeze didn’t do anything that hasn’t been done before, he just got caught! Money and girls… oh my! A 1st in sports! He may or may not of been faithful to his wife, another 1st! Spitting out those names like Hitler etc is a joke, UGA got some horrible tragedies going on over there, my heart goes out to the families.
