I know Heupel played for Leach at Oklahoma so I'm assuming some of his approach is like the Air Raid. If they win 10+ games next year I bet people with pick it up.
Hopefully this self-corrects. Especially if this kid goes to whomever and puts up mediocre numbers. $$ doesn't make these kids produce on Saturdays. Just ask Jimbo! This ought to be in the hundreds of thousands of $$ at best. It's always been to their disadvantage to not recieve some compensation for playing football beyond whatever degree they might or might not earn. But $13M is off the rails. No way that kid is worth that. Heck the GOAT Tom Brady signed for $15M this year.
I'm still in shock that we see good news about players coming to Auburn from the portal. Congrats to Coach Freeze and his staff. I could barely bring myself to watch Auburn games last year. Now I have a count down clock to get a glipse of A-Day!
Yessir. Maybe I shouldn't have used the words "Harsin" and "coaching" in the same sentence.
That is what I was thinking. Heck, Pawl is a UT alum even. I think UT will be about as good next year and UGA at Neyland Stadium will be one to watch for sure. Just ask Bama.
He can make as much or more at UGA. So what is the lure of going to the NFL? Heck with the portal college even has free agency now.
My biggest frustration with Ashford was how down on himself he would get when the threw a pick, etc. Maybe that was Harsin coaching? Maybe Freeze can get him in the "flush it and move on" mentality. But we need someone that is fearless at QB, whomever that migh be.
Saban only needs a DC that can mold all that talent to hold teams under 17 points a game. Then they'll go back to being Alabama.
I'm convinced they put too much credit in ACC and Big 10 schedules. Michigan should have been better and OSU almost (should have) beat UGA. I hate to say it but we'd be better off if we just went with the top four teams in the Coaches poll next year. And then wait for the 12 team playoffs with 3 or 4 SEC teams in it that end up the last 3 or 4 teams most years. Just goes to show that if you play an SEC schedule and end up with a good record, then you are a pretty darn good football team. Not just a team that got lucky and beat Indiana or VA Tech by a point.
I figure you can't be over 300 pounds and pass up wings.
With Jumbo and Petrino on the same sideline something otherwordly is likely to happen at some point next season. Like in a "get my popcorn and turn off the phone" kind of way.
After last week's games, I was hoping for a more competitive game. After all, UM crushed OSU and OSU was a kick away from beating UGA. TCU beat UM, so there is evidence they deserved to be in the CFP. Maybe they all didn't sleep at a Holiday Inn Express or something, but TCU definitely no showed last night. I found myself watching Maine Cabin Masters to see something with some entertainment value!
I guess "On to Victory" is working on a few more victories?
I have never seen so many missed shots from within 3 feet of the basket as Auburn had last night. Coach Pearl clearly gets effort out of his team, but do they not practice shots on goal? He put #24 in for a few minutes who hit a three then it was back to really good D and pitiful offense. Even Wendell is streaky as heck. And the drive the ball into 3 defenders before flopping and begging for a foul is getting old.
UGA shut down UT so it can be done. Everybody knows Stroud is a phenomenal passer in clean pocket. Befuddled why UGA left him alone most of the game. The announcers kept saying the UGA Dline were gassed. I know I had some extra ham over the holidays. But pressure the QB!
Let any SEC team have their ACC schedule one year and they compete in their place in the SEC. Then we can compare apples to apples.
I remember after Dyer scored late, that Ellis needed to tell the DBs to blanket #13 wherever he goes. I'm sure many other AU fans thought the same thing. And then Jameis throws him the winning TD. A real "bash head here" moment.
I hope they blow up Illinois like they did to us in 2021 on the plains.
Conceptually, I agree with you. But they need to be able to add players for bowls. Watching Arky play with 35 players was on the edge of ludicrous. There needs to be a way to play with a nearly full roster if players can opt out or enter the portal, etc.
After watching the Washington Commanders stink it up with Wentz yesterday, send Derek Carr there. Or Baker Mayfield. Or anyone else that has decent QB experience in the NFL.
Better go full bore! I mean they are playing in a stadium with a pirate ship in the end zone.
Not that the Vols were a bad team, but Clemson looked confused most of their bowl game. I'm sure they'll clean up the ACC but I am curious how they fare next year. Clubnick (sp?) had some "wow" moments followed by some WTH moments.
The more 1 on 1s he has letting him pressure up the middle, the fewer chances OSU has at winning this one. The rest of the team is great, but if he pressures up the middle, OSU's chances drop to near zero.
I'm really pleased how this staff is rounding out. Can't wait to see how it shows on the field.
