Florida sets date for 2023 Orange and Blue spring game

Florida has come out with its spring game date as Billy Napier rolls into Year 2 at the helm in Gainesville.

The Florida football team will play this year’s Orange and Blue Game inside Ben Hill Griffin Stadium on Thursday, April 13, the Gators announced Monday. The spring game is expected to be similar to a game day environment at the Swamp.

More details about the game, including streaming and broadcast information, fan initiatives and kickoff time will be announced at a later date.

Florida is looking to bounce back from a forgettable Las Vegas Bowl loss to Oregon State, and some topsy turvy recruiting news, such as Jaden Rashada parting ways with the Gators.

The Gators are trying to get set for a season opener at Pac-12 Conference champion Utah. Florida beat the Utes at home, 29-26, to open last season. As the Gators turn over their roster, that will offer a glimpse into the Napier building plan, and where the Gators stand to start Year 2.

    • I'm glad it's on at night during the week. I'm not going to spend a Saturday afternoon in April watching a practice when I could be hunting or fishing. Thursday night TV sounds good to me.

          I do vividly remember 27-13 in game that wasn’t even remotely close, seems the #1 ranked team lost that one.

      • Tdow, I don’t have to take anything. I love football, but it’s not my identity. I’m not a better or worse person due to the performance of the team I support. Georgia football is not in my radar often, just when the Gators play against them and if they’re involved in the post season.

        Enjoy the great seasons they have had, which can make for witty banter against your rivals, which is much better than insults. Check out Leghumper’s posts for example.

        I personally am going to enjoy all things Gator football, chatting with fellow Gator and SEC fans who have clever or funny comments, and I look forward to what can be for next season. I think you’ll enjoy yourself more if you join in on the fun of the Mertz stories like other fan bases.

        • I've got a lot of respect for Georgia - always have in fact, going back to the Ray Graves era - and even more so now that they're representing the SEC so well. Through all those years, I've always enjoyed the playful banter between the two teams, much more often than not done in good sportsmanship ala in the spirit of Leghumper (well, when his hemorrhoids aren't acting up anyway). I can honestly say that it never once occurred to me to insult another team, school, or fanbase like we see on here constantly, nor does it to most of us for that matter.

Regrettably, that seems to be more obsolete than ever.
