Kentucky announces spring practice schedule, will not have normal spring game format in 2023

Kentucky has announced its schedule for spring practices in 2023. Unfortunately for fans, the Wildcats will not have the traditional spring game format in place this year.

In an announcement on social media, Kentucky said the decision is due to the turf being replaced in Kroger Field. The Wildcats will have their spring practice schedule from March 6 – April 8.

“Because we’re replacing the turf in Kroger Field, we won’t have a traditional Spring Game,” the statement reads, “but are working on having chances for #BBN to see the team in person this spring!”

The Wildcats finished 2022 with a 7-6 record and a Music City Bowl loss to Iowa with star quarterback Will Levis sitting out to prepare for the 2023 NFL Draft. Spring practices would be the first chance for fans to get a look at incoming transfer QB Devin Leary after coming to Kentucky from NC State.

  • The highest paid 8-5 team ever. Kentucky, isn’t that good. They never had a chance at winning the east, even with this top draft pick QB. The best coach in the world can only make them so good. The seasons go like Ole Miss. we know you’re decent, but you ain’t thaaaat good. You’re just not. You fooled no one.

  • Why not replace it now? We replaced our field with sod in a couple of days after the Beyonce concert years ago.
