NFL Mock Draft 2023: CBS Sports' latest Round 1 projections feature Will Levis going No. 1 overall
NFL mock draft season is officially here, and more than a dozen SEC players are currently being projected by many analysts to go in Round 1.
Many are wondering where Alabama QB Bryce Young will go. If he falls to No. 2, he’ll likely end up with the Houston Texans. But could a team trade up with the Chicago Bears to take Young No. 1?
In Ryan Wilson’s latest mock draft for CBS Sports, he has the Indianapolis Colts trading up from No. 4 to No. 1 to draft not Young, but Kentucky QB Will Levis.
Here’s where Wilson has the SEC’s 15 first-round picks ending up:
- No. 1 — Will Levis, QB, Kentucky — Indianapolis Colts
- No. 2 — Bryce Young, QB, Alabama — Houston Texans
- No. 3 — Will Anderson Jr., Edge, Alabama — Arizona Cardinals
- No. 4 — Jalen Carter, DL, Georgia — Chicago Bears
- No. 13 — Anthony Richardson, QB, Florida — New York Jets
- No. 14 — Broderick Jones, OL, Georgia — New England Patriots
- No. 16 — Kelee Ringo, CB, Georgia — Washington Commanders
- No. 20 — O’Cyrus Torrence, OL, Florida — Seattle Seahawks
- No. 23 — Nolan Smith, Edge, Georgia — Baltimore Ravens
- No. 24 — Brian Branch, DB, Alabama — Minnesota Vikings
- No. 25 — Cam Smith, CB, South Carolina — Jacksonville Jaguars
- No. 27 — Jalin Hyatt, WR, Tennessee — Dallas Cowboys
- No. 28 — Darnell Washington, TE, Georgia — Cincinnati Bengals
- No. 29 — Drew Sanders, Edge, Arkansas — Denver Broncos
- No. 32 — Jahmyr Gibbs, RB, Alabama — Philadelphia Eagles
Are the Colts as idiotic as Wilson? Their recent track record says they could be. Levis is a project at best. He’s just as likely to be a bust.
If that was to happen, the Colts will live to regret passing on Bryce Young. And unless Houston is dumb enough not to pick him, Indy will be regretting it twice a year for a long time.
This list is a joke. But NFL teams make clownish decisions all the time. I would be surprised but not shocked.
Craziest thing about this list IMO is almost half of the first round would be from a single conference. That’s wild.
Levis is overrated. Bryce Young and CJ Stroud should be the first QBs off the board.
I would draft Young, Stroud, Duggan, and Bennett (in that order) over Levis.
But I’m certainly no NFL scout.
