Shane Beamer rips South Carolina radio station over Garrett Riley report

Shane Beamer isn’t shy about using social media to address media coverage of his South Carolina football team. Beamer recently blasted a South Carolina radio station for a report about Garrett Riley.

The Fan Upstate tweeted that the Gamecocks sought to hire Garrett Riley as their new offensive coordinator. Riley, who won the Broyles Award for the nation’s top assistant coach this past season as TCU’s offensive coordinator, has officially been hired as Clemson’s new OC. South Carolina named former Arkansas assistant Dowell Loggains its new offensive coordinator in December.

Beamer took issue with The Fan Upstate reporting he pursued Riley, and blasted the radio station in a tweet, questioning the sourcing of the reporting and emphasizing Loggains as the right man for the job in Columbia.

The station’s Marc Ryan responded to the viral tweet by saying Beamer should spend less time on the social media app.

Beamer’s tweet is at 1.7 million views at time of publishing.

    • I DON'T THINK SO! Not sure I'd say beating the tiggers once since 2013 is closing the gap and as far as that "as does everyone else"...you finished 8-5 enjoy that mediocrity.

  • The station just got pantsed

Now they’re trying to save face

Go Beamer .. keep calling out these trolls

  • Maybe Marc should focus on reporting real football news instead of spending his time bragging about his show on Twitter. What a clown. I do have to say though, Beamer responding to this type of stuff isn't always the best look either.

  • Typical Clemson fans - always worrying about the Gamecocks. Gamecock fans are not worried about Clemson until the week of the game. We are in the SEC - we have enough worries of our own. But - Clemson is very worried that we have closed the gap.

    GO COCKS

  • I like Coach Beamer's willingness to fight for the program but this comes across as snarky rather than classy. As for the rose colored glasses comments from my fellow Gamecock fans, I will just say that the team has a lot of work to do and needs to get through next season without getting blown out by UGA and UF and losing to Missouri for a fifth time. Let's just get good before we start calling ourselves great.
