Christian Kirk comes out of the backfield to catch early Jacksonville Jaguars TD in AFC playoff game

Christian Kirk is the first Jacksonville Jaguar to find the end zone Saturday in Kansas City.

The Jaguars had Kirk line up in the backfield to create a favorable matchup on 2nd-and-9 from the Chiefs’ 10-yard line.

With a successful extra point, Kirk’s TD catch had things tied between the Jaguars-Chiefs at 7-7 in the 1st quarter. Kansas City has retaken the lead 10-7 off of a Harrison Butker 50-yard field goal early in the 2nd quarter.

Kirk, a former Texas A&M standout, is in his 5th professional season. The 2022 season, Kirk’s first in Jacksonville, was a career year. In regular-season play, Kirk logged 84 catches for 1,108 yards and 8 touchdowns. In Jacksonville’s Super Wild Card Weekend win over the Los Angeles Chargers, Kirk had 8 receptions for 78 yards and a TD.

Kirk so far has 2 catches for 17 yards in the first half. The game is airing on NBC.
