Bobby Petrino heading to Texas A&M as the offensive coordinator and play caller understandably drew an immediate and widespread reaction around college football.
Petrino made the move, according to multiple reports including ESPN’s Chris Low, after being at UNLV with Barry Odom for less than a month. And the move came after coach Jimbo Fisher fired offensive coordinator Darrell Dickey a month ago.
Petrino is a well-respected offensive coach, and he previously worked 2 stints as coach at Louisville (2003-06, 2014-18), and also coached the Atlanta Falcons (2007), Arkansas (2008-11) and Western Kentucky (2013). Petrino is 137-71 overall as a college head coach.
Matt Hayes wrote on Dec. 12 that Petrino is the absolute last person Fisher should hire.

Now all they need is the former Iowa Strength and Conditioning coach and Urban Meyer as Team Character Ambassador of Off-Field Activities.
Jumbo, Petrino, and Durkin, the three Amigos!
Add Steve Addazio to the list too and it gets even better.
Dude has had more short-term work engagements than a street walking ho
Character wise, Hugh Freeze makes Bobby look like a choir boy so Bobby has that going for him
Quick! Hide your motorcycles and female grad assistants!
Jimbo getting paid $100,000,000.00 to burn the place down, why can’t I find one of those jobs?
^^this^^
I guess Petrino's 18 - 15 record at Missouri State was too impressive to pass on.
He's hired to coach offense. The wins will be on Jimbo. Nice try though.
You're immediately defending many negative comments on Petrino, trying to elevate yourself by putting down others. What gives? Are you related to him?
Just commenting on the ridiculousness.
I am not elevating myself, just pointing out hypocrisy and anti-A&M rhetoric. Is that ok with you?
The subplots that will assuredly result from this will practically write themselves
sorry, a&m fans. i think you guys deserve better than what you've been saddled with.
New business venture. Neck braces with the razorback emblem on them, marketed to Arkansas fans the week before the Arky A&M game.
Can we assume aTm is gonna pay him like $15mil over 6 years, all guaranteed?
Its A&M. Thats walking around money compared to Jimbos buyout.
At least the buyout will make it harder for Petrino to play the boosters for Jimbo’s job.
