Arkansas is out with the contract details for new defensive backs coach Deron Wilson, who was recently hired from a quality control role at Florida after he was the defensive coordinator McNeese State.

Wilson will earn $300,000 in 2023, HawgSports reported through a Freedom of Information Act request. Wilson’s contract runs through Feb. 28, 2025. He also worked at UTSA from 2016-20 and served as a graduate assistant (2016-18) before being promoted to a cornerback coach (2019-20).

Wilson joins a staff that has Arkansas’ new co-defensive coordinator, Marcus Woodson, who previously coached Florida State’s defensive backs and defensive passing game coordinator.

At McNeese State in the spring 2021 season, Wilson’s secondary improved to the point that it allowed 35 fewer yards passing compared to 2019.

Wilson coached at UTSA for 4 seasons, spending the final 2 as the Roadrunners’ cornerbacks coach after starting as a graduate assistant. In Wilson’s first season leading the unit, the Roadrunners’ cornerbacks added to the team’s 19 turnovers with 7 of the team’s 9 interceptions, according to his Arkansas bio.
