We’ll get to the Austin festivities shortly, but first, let’s focus on the return of tailgating and a new game-changing product on the tailgating scene.

Everyone who tailgates knows there are certain essentials that must be in place for a successful outing. One of those essentials is a great cooler. Whether you’re at the stadium, at home with friends, or just cooking out, an awesome cooler is critical to your tailgating game.

After all, the last thing you want is to reach into your cooler and find raw burgers at room temp. Next to warm beer, that’s as bad as it gets in the tailgating world.

The good news is, thanks to the new YETI Roadie 48 wheeled cooler, that will never be an issue again because this thing is truly next level!

YETI has been producing super-high quality coolers for many years, but with the introduction of the new Wheeled Roadie line, they’ve raised the bar once again. In this version, you get the interior space you’re used to having, along with the convenience of it being on wheels. A big win-win!

In addition, the Roadie was actually designed to navigate through tight spaces, like tailgates. It’s smooth rolling, easy to maneuver, and incredibly durable. The periscope handle is retractable and slides up and down easily. It can actually disappear if you need the extra space. The non-slip feet ensure there won’t be any accidents, and the tie-down slots can easily attach to a boat or truck bed.

And unlike most coolers, it’s designed to accommodate wine bottles. That’s right, wine bottles! In fact, you can fit nearly every standard wine bottle comfortably inside the Roadie.

YETI was good enough to send me one to try out a few weeks back and it did not disappoint. It’s built like a tank, but in a refined way. The construction is outstanding and the exterior looks are really eye-catching. In terms of weight, it goes about 26 pounds when empty, but you won’t notice that when you’re wheeling it around.

With regard to the handle, it’s smooth but also sturdy, so I wasn’t worried about it breaking. And the wheels are just the right size; small enough to get you through crowded areas but large enough to handle more rugged terrain.

And if you’re interested – and I know you are – the Roadie fits 41 cans using a 2:1 ice-to-can ratio. That’s a Hall-of-Fame worthy stat. What’s more, you have the option of including a dry basket inside the Roadie. It fits at the top of the cooler, so if you have food that needs to be kept cold and dry, the Roadie has you covered!

With regard to construction, the side walls are really thick. That would figure since YETI has a reputation for keeping ice for days at a time. In my experience, it did that and then some.

At one point, I took it on the boat with some friends and it performed perfectly. Everyone raved about the design and how smooth the wheels rolled. They also hit me up for freebies, but that’s not happening.

Now, you could look at the price tag of $450 and think that might be too much money for a cooler. But when you’re buying something this well made, you know you’ll have it for years to come. With that in mind, I think it’s a fair price on a great cooler.

Whether it’s a stadium parking lot, the lake, beach, or a campground, the YETI Roadie delivers. Think of it as an insurance policy against warm beer and room temperature burgers!

Fans will be able to see the cooler in action the Saturday morning of the Alabama vs Texas game. The festivities will occur on Bevo Boulevard and Alabama-born and Austin-based pitmaster icon, Matt Pittman, will be serving up Texas-Style BBQ and Alabama-Style pulled pork to fans on-site.

The tailgate will begin at 8:00 am and fans will be able to taste the BBQ and pulled pork at both of the YETI tailgate spots. In addition, they’ll be surprising fans with the two meats at random spots across the entire tailgate scene.

The Roadie 48 wheeled cooler is available now at YETI.
