Marshall heads to Tuscaloosa after 4 seasons at UGA. The bulk of his appearances came in Years 1 and 4 with the program.
As a true freshman, Marshall played in all 14 of Georgia’s contests during the 2019 season. In 2020 and 2021, however, he was limited to just 7 appearances per his Georgia bio. He suffered a knee injury during the 2021 season that limited his playing time.
This past season, Marshall made 14 appearances as a reserve linebacker. He recorded 19 tackles, including 11 solo stops, 4.5 tackles for loss, 1 sack and 2 passes defended (1 interception).
Though Marshall is 4 years into his career, the 2020 season does not count against his eligibility and he can apply a redshirt to 2021 since he only made 4 appearances.
A former Clinch County standout from Homerville, Georgia, Marshall is listed at 6-1, 230 pounds on the Georgia roster.
Hard to tell if Georgia lost a good player cause he stayed injured so much at Georgia. At least there will be one player on Alabama’s with 2 national championship ring.
rings.
2 in 40 yrs. Nice try buddy.
2 in 42 years is accurate, but so is 2 in the last 2 years, so….
3 in 42 years?
Alabama are just mad and jealous they have never gone 15-0 and had back to back National Championships in the playoff era.
Alabama Fans….
Georgia has never gone 11-0 in the SEC. Appears Bama obsession is not easy to recover from based on Doug’s living on Bama articles.
I think it’s fair to say UGA lost a good player. Will he be missed? That’s another question.
Will he play much at Alabama? That also remains to be seen, but he’ll at least bring some much needed experience.
Georgia has ex players who hit the portal that are now starting at Alabama, LSU, Florida, Arkansas, Michigan State and Mississippi State. That’s a reflection of the talent level and competition at Georgia.
Doug, isn’t the same true for guys who left Bama?
There is not one portal player from Alabama starting at Georgia.
There is not one of the top 2 players recruited out of Georgia going to be a Dawg. Both are coming to Bama.
He’s a good player and injuries hurt him early on but even after fully healthy, the other guys were just a little better. I hope he does well and gets a shot at the NFL.
That’s the unfortunate thing about recovering from an injury at a program like Georgia. You get maybe the best medical care in CFB under Ron Courson, but rehabbing often puts you depressingly far behind the competition curve. If you’re Jalen Carter or AD Mitchell, not so much. For most others, yeah, it can be a mountain to climb.
No doubt Marshall is a good player it’s just UGA is recruiting at such a high level at the LB position the is no margin for error or injury downtime.
Marshall lost out to Rice, Crowder, Quay Walker, Tindall etc. early in his career and this season Dumas-Johnson, Monden and even true freshman Jovan Walker passed him by while Kirby signed one of the best LB classes every for 2023.
Marshall was a luxury to have on the bench for backup and special teams. I hope he has a great career at Bama and makes the NFL.
Replying to another comment you made. No transfer players from Alabama starting for Ga. Look you butt wipe extendz ? clown. Don’t no Alabama player want to even transfer to Ga because they all know that Ga is a copy cat of Alabama why leave the blueprint and the greatest coach of all time to a program that has literally stolen every aspect from Alabama. If it was not for Alabama and what we gifted you it would have been 80 yrs before Ga won a championship again facts!!! You little turd and all you other GA fans on our thread right here watch what happens next yr and beyond Herman the monster looking David Pollack and the disrespect he gave Saban is all we needed
Tell Jermaine we said hi.
Well Bama just upgraded at ILB. Good for them.
Yet again
The GOAT having to sn1ff around Athens GA for some table scr@ps
Good get for Bama, they know they have picked up a player who was properly evaluated then coached up and developed by the best in the business
Kinda like Georgia needed Kirby, Mel Tucker , Scott Cochran , Dan Lanning and Lonnie brown? All Former bama coaches?
Dan Lanning was a GA at Bama for one year then went to Memphis, Kirby hired Lanning away from Memphis.
Cochran was the Strength and Conditioning coach at Bama, not an on-field coach. Kirby hired Cochran as an on-field coach, special teams coach.
Regarding UGA hiring Lonnie Brown:
“Brown arrives from Arizona, where he was the Associate Director of Strength & Conditioning for Wildcats football. Brown was hired at Arizona after 2 seasons (2019-20) at Alabama State. Per his bio, Brown oversaw Strength and Conditioning at Alabama State for all 18 sports, including football. He arrived at Alabama State from Alabama A&M, where he designed, implemented and monitored strength and conditioning programs for multiple Olympic sport programs.
Brown was on staff at Alabama, his alma mater, as Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach in 2015 when Kirby Smart was the team’s defensive coordinator.” www DOT saturdaydownsouth DOT com/georgia-football/georgia-announces-addition-of-assistant-strength-coach-to-football-staff
Mel Tucker was the DB coach at Bama under Kirby, Kirby hired and promoted to DC and now Mel is a HC.
So for the two that Kirby did hire from Bama, they followed Kirby so they could be developed. What’s that say about Kirby, UGA, Bama and Saban – that Tucker and Cochran would leave the then #1 program in all of college football to work for Kirby and UGA?
Not only is Kirby is the Gold Standard in recruiting and player development, Kirby is the Gold Standard in professional development for coaches and support staff.
And Kirby learned everything he knows about building a winning program from Saban. There is a reason why UGA is ALWAYS being compared to Bama and not vice versa. Saban created the ultimate standard in modern college football and everyone else is chasing that, Kirby included. He is off to an incredible start, no doubt, but some of the disrespect from UGA fans towards Saban is astonishing.
No matter how you word it they worked for Alabama Before they went to Ga… Kirby knew where to go for coaches from the greatest college football program of all time . Saban was Kirby’s mentor no one knew who he was till he was successful under saban.
Kirby’s father was a very accomplished HS coach in Georgia; it has been covered that Kirby actually operated as an asst coach for his Father while playing for his Father in Bainbridge GA.
While playing at UGA Kirby was also mentored by Hall of Fame coach Jim Donnan; Donnan has talked about how Kirby took on a coach’s role while he was a player at UGA and often conferred with Donnan and the other coaches on staff at the time. Will Muschamp and Mike Bobo also both played, studied and were mentored under Donnan.
Kirby has specifically called out Chris Hatcher as being a strong influence in his development.
Kirby worked for one year under Mark Richt and as consulted over the years with both Vince Dooley and Ray Goff.
Kirby has said more than once that Will Muschamp played a big role in Kirby’s development; Muschamp hired Kirby while Muschamp was Saban’s DC at LSU.
Kirby has been groomed all his life to be a football coach.
Saban no doubt played a part in Kirby’s development but all the talk about Saban “made” Kirby is bunk. Kirby is uber talented and gifted, he has been around, mentored by and worked for many very fine coaches. The only one that “made” Kirby is God.
Did Saban make McSharkHumper? What about Golden and O’Brian?
As the years and seasons go by it’s becoming more and more apparent that Kirby was the architect of those great defenses in the early years of Saban’s run at Bama. Since leaving Bama, Bama’s defenses have been on a downward trajectory. If Saban was the once that built those championship defenses then why hasn’t he built then Kirby left Bama??????
I am not sure where you got this term “made” from, because I never said Saban “made” Kirby. Kirby may have had football running through his veins his entire life but he learned how to build a program from Saban.
Everything UGA has done over the years mirrors what Bama did to build their program back in the early 2010s. From recruiting strategy, to player development, to analysts procurement, to player evaluation, to culture building, to roster manipulation, to the process of winning every day, to culture building and so on.
As far as defense goes, believe it or not, some of the most feared and dominate defenses under Saban were when Pruitt was the DC. Hate to tell you that, but a lot of Bama fans and experts would agree too. Kirby leaving also coincided with Saban completely overhauling his offensive philosophy and becoming a more up tempo wide open offense which in turn hurt the defensive analytics.
We can go on and on about this but at the end of the day, pretty much everyone outside of some UGA fans know that Saban is the best to ever do it and only time will tell if Kirby can match or surpass that.
Everything Saban did mirrored what Tom Osborne did at Nebraska, what Bob Stoops did at
Okalahoma, what Fulmer did at UT etc.
Saban didn’t change or create any new paradigms like Spurrier or Meyer did. Saban just followed proven principles and did so better than anybody else for a while.
If your argument is Pruitt was a a better DC than Kirby you’ve lost. Nobody outside a fanatical fan would ever make that claim.
Saban built the greatest college football dynasty of all time (there’s an argument its one of the best in any sport at any level) and he did that with his own “Process”. Something he developed and utilized to create sustained success unlike anything we’ve seen in this sport. Something that is way more than just Xs and Os or recruiting or development or offensive/defensive philosophy. I understand it has components from past coaches and programs. Of course it does. There aren’t many great things in this world just created out of thin air.
There is a reason why programs hire Saban assistants all the time. There is a reason why coaches like Mel Tucker are considered Saban disciples and not Kirby. Programs desperately want to emulate that success and sustain it. Kirby has done it better than anyone and has been wildly successful at it while starting to create his own legacy.
As far as DC, sure Kirby is better than Pruitt when analyzing them as their own entity. Pair them with Saban and the talented players on those Bama rosters and Pruitt did just as good if not better than Kirby.
Who would have thunk it 7 years ago when Kirby was hired…players transferring FROM Georgia TO Bama for more immediate playing time opportunities
I was thinking the same thing, humper. Wild tom imagine how far we’ve come when a guy thinks, “I don’t know if I’m gonna get enough playing time here at UGA, I think I’ll transfer to Bama for better odds.”
*to imagine
He was UGA’s 3rd LB last year and he was dependable but the two players ahead of him are underclassmen. And UGA has other young players that would have probably entered the portal if he stayed. So I think this is a case where UGA decided to take 2 more years of Xavian Sorey instead of one more year of Trez.

Lol rent free you sh** head…
Why would the puppies be rent free in anyone’s head? Now that’s funny! Oh yeah, s h i t h e a d. Go ask uncle daddy if you can be online, he may busy with sis though!
Could be that whole two championships in a row bit.
Hilarious! Just mention the Crimson Tide and the wannabe Dawgs come ruining. smh
Bama got a good one in Marshall. When healthy he was in the rotation and did well imo. Needs to put on weight but I can see him as a starter for Bama before he is done.
As I do with all transfersm I’ll be pulling for Trez to do well
Yea, y’all are getting a fine linebacker. That’s all we have at Georgia!!!! But regarding the national championships… Are we still ignoring THE ROBBERY BOWL in 2017???? That makes 3 since 2017 in my book!!!!! LOL
But……
Having the SEC CHAMPIONSHIP. A second straight unbeaten regular season and national championship with an unbeaten season this season. These sure make me feel better!!! The only people not saying DYNASTY these days are either stupid or have sympathies that are with the old goat Saban!!!
Heck Saban the old goat is having a tough time hanging with that insurance duck!!!! There is a young Lion named King Kirby Smart in charge now!!!!
He’s in charge of a rabid bunch of junkyard DAWGS, and they are still hungry!!!!!
THE LAST ONES WHO TRIED TO TAKE OUR TITLE WERE BADLY MAULED!!!!!!!
GEORGIA 65 TCU 7
PS. Alabama didn’t want none!!! I predicted a repeat and then the 3peat. Ill stick with my prediction!!!!
GOD WILLING AS ALWAYS, GEORGIA WINS 3 IN 2023!!!! YEP GEORGIA 3PEATS!!!!!!
RISE UP DAWGS, WHATEVER IT TAKES IN 2023!!!!!
YES 3PEAT IN 202″3″
Negan
No robbery Bowl in the 2018 NC game. 2nd and 26 was a well earned play. You couldn’t possibly be referring to the punt block that should have been blown dead due to motion by the RB. Gotta call out that missed call as well if you want to call out a bad offsides call. Not even Negan gets to have it both ways.
Just sore losers all these years later still complaining and have to keep up with Alabama news it’s sad there is more Ga fans on Alabamas page than anybody else
Yawn. Back to back baby. Meanwhile in Tuscalooser
