Alabama has found its replacement for departing tight end Cam Latu, dipping into the transfer portal to grab a commitment from sought-after Maryland tight end CJ Dippre.

The Crimson Tide beat out Ohio State for the 6-foot-5 tight end, who is rated as the 5th best available TE in the transfer portal. He made his announcement via Instagram and Twitter Tuesday morning.

Dippre played 2 seasons for the Terrapins, playing in 14 games with a very strong 2022 season. He totaled 30 receptions for 314 yards and 3 touchdowns on the year in a passing offense where he was the 4th or 5th option.

Dippre was a 3-star prospect out of high school in Pennsylvania, rated as the No. 893 prospect in the country in the 2021 cycle.
