Eyabi Okie, Michigan edge and former Alabama 5-star signee, enters transfer portal for a 4th time
Eyabi Okie is familiar with, and quite popular in, the transfer portal.
Okie is a Michigan edge who entered the transfer portal for a 4th time this week, according to multiple reports including the Detroit Free Press, as the Baltimore native previously had stints at Alabama, Houston and UT Martin. Okie finished the 2022 season with nine tackles (3.5 for loss) and 2.5 sacks in nine games. Okie was suspended by Alabama and entered the transfer portal before the 2019 season.
The Free Press reported his season this way: But while he flashed in victories over Iowa and Nebraska, Okie never established himself as a consistent producer this past fall. He logged only 30 snaps more than twice while contributing four sacks. Because of his deficiencies in run defense and pass coverage, Okie was seen as a one-dimensional player who couldn’t be deployed on a down-to-down basis.
Okie was the No. 4 player nationally in the 247 Sports Composite when he signed with Alabama in December, 2017. He played in 12 games as a freshman in 2018, and earned All-Freshman SEC honors after he made 2 tackles for a loss.
I assume by this point he has a degree and is immediately eligible, but I’d really like to see his waiver hardship requests for the other transfers. This guy is emblematic of the reason the NCAA tightened up immediate eligibility requirements yesterday.
There was an article on Al.com 2 days ago about this. He does have a degree and will be eligible immediately. He didn’t have to use the hardship requests since he never suited up for Huston.
enters transfer portal for a 4th time…
He makes Brenton Cox look like a solid guy
He wants to play for Georgia!!!!
Negan
pfork no! Just no…..
If any good player that wants to win National Championships, Georgia is the best fit. Kirby is going to catch Nick Saban in Natty wins.
You and Negan are both nuts. UGA will nor have any interest in this guy.
