Darius Miles update: Court documents reveal details around fatal shooting
Darius Miles has been accused of providing the weapon that was used in a fatal shooting in Tuscaloosa over the weekend, according to a report.
Per court filings published by AL.com, Miles admitted to providing the hand gun that was later used by Michael Lynn Davis in the shooting. Both men are currently being held without bond on capital murder charges, per the report.
Here’s an excerpt of the charge sheet released on Tuesday:
On Jan. 15, 2023, Darius Miles aided and abetted Michael Davis in the crime of capital murder of Jamea Harris. Michael Davis shot and killed Jamea Harris while she was in the passenger seat of a vehicle stopped in the 500 block of Grace Street in Tuscaloosa. She was struck once by gunfire and died shortly afterwards. Darius Miles admitted to providing Michael Davis with the handgun immediately prior to the shooting.
Earlier in the week, Miles’ attorney released the following statement:
“Darius Miles and his family are heartbroken tonight over the death of Jamea Jonae Harris. While Darius has been accused of being involved with this tragedy, he maintains his innocence and looks forward to his day in court. Our firm’s own investigation is ongoing, and no further statement will be made at this time.”
Miles has been dismissed from Alabama’s basketball team. He played in 53 games over the past 3 seasons for the Crimson Tide, making 3 starts.
Well if he handed the shooter the gun and the shooter immediately shot her then sounds anything but innocent. Taking a life is so easy for some. It just baffles me.
That is two of us Fuzzy. I have seen way too much of it in my life. I have had a good many incidents when I was legally capable of using my service weapon but did not feel the circumstances warranted it at that particular time. It boils down to a particular way of thinking or thought process.
“he maintains his innocence and looks forward to his day in court.” Translation: he is hoping for a plea deal and to get out before he is eligible for a state provided grave.
Yep
Translation of your translation 8×5…he provided the shooter the gun but by his time in court rolls around his lawyer will certainlly clear it up that he did not provide it willingly…
Ya. The guy really had to fight to get the gun I’m sure
I have seen on other websites that there is a ring doorbell video of the shooting. Such a terrible and senseless loss.
If I was Darius Miles I’m not sure if I’d be looking forward to my day in court. Seeing that he supplied the gun to the shooter that killed the young lady. Is he that ignorant about the law to even think he’s innocent of any wrongdoing?
Translation: He had a gun in his car and his d1ckhead friend shot someone while Miles was operating the vehicle. But Bammer has psychotic laws that let you charge people with murder when they were witnesses.
the entire nation has the same law. If he wouldn’t have had the gun, much less supply the gun….the girl is still alive. SO….he is liable for providing the weapon that made the entire situation possible. IE’ it’s his fault the girl died. If you own a gun ‘legally’…you already know it’s not a toy to be passed around….for anything.!!!!!!!! “You wanna play with guns…go buy your own…this one here is mine and I’m responsible for it!” He’s more than a witness kid
Right. It’s the law that’s psycho here
Yeah, it’s nuts….to hold the person accountable who provided the dangerous weapon at the time crime and was present at the crime that claimed the life of a innocent person.
My post is being moderated ?
I suspect his lawyer will claim that he gave the gun to his friend ONLY for defense and will claim he did not know his friend would initiate the gunfire. May not work but I bet that will be his strategy.
N doubt he will see the inside of the greybar hotel.
Miles is going to end up in prison, and rightfully so.
