Bob Stoops makes projection about Nick Saban's retirement future
Nick Saban’s age is increasingly a topic of conversation, especially now that he’s over 70, and in the 2023 season, Saban will turn 72.
Bob Stoops has a unique perspective on retiring after a long career as a football coach. So the former Florida defensive coordinator and Oklahoma coach has weighed in about Saban’s future. He shared some thoughts with On3 Sports.
Stoops said he did not expect Saban to walk away from coaching “anytime soon.” Saban just finished his 27th season in college football as a head coach and 29th overall between college and the NFL.
“I mean, you know, Coach Saban, Nick has been a family friend for a long time,” Stoops said. “Knew my father well. In fact, that’s where it all began. He knew my father as an assistant high school coach. Anyway, yeah, I could see (Saban still coaching), I don’t see him going away anytime soon. So, good for him. You know, Coach Saban does an incredible job. He loves the game. He obviously loves what he does and more power to him.
“I applaud him and of course, he’s a great coach but again for me, he’s been a great family friend for a great number of years. Anyway, it goes — like I said, it goes way back to my father as a high school coach and my uncle, a high school coach that he was very good friends with.”
Come on Farner, write an article for crying out loud!
How do you expect him to do that? He lacks the ability.
That is true.
I think basically Stoops would say, “ya’ll don’t worry about Saban, he and the Tide will be just fine.”
Yet you continue to read the articles, don’t you?
Maybe you should submit your resume, I’m sure you could do a much better job.
I submitted mine but they rejected it, said it contained no inaccuracies and lacked the quantity of misspelled words required to be a SDS writer…
Great more years coaching means more years getting embarrassed and owned by Kirby and the DAWGS!!!!!
Seriously though, I think he is going to ATTEMPT to rebuild Alabama in the image of Georgia or classic Alabama!!!!! His talent will demand it!!!!! Otherwise you are trying to put a square peg into a round hole!!!!! It won’t work!!!!
PS. This was a very young Georgia team!!!! We could be better next season!!!!!!
Negan
Kirby is 1-4 vs Saban
Yep, and he was trailing Saban nearly halfway through the 4th quarter of the game he did win last year. But yet, Smart owns Saban now. I remember last year, this site was saying GA couldn’t compete with AL because of Stetson.
You remember right…^
With UGA winning two natties back to back, you would think Bama wouldn’t be on their mind. Here they are though. Negan, do you come on SDS just to troll Bama?
No he’s just a fair weather thug who hates the fact that Coach Saban still gets the top recruits and produces with success. Also whatever your name is, here’s some education for you. Most of Kirby’s coaches came from Coach Saban. Let’s see Kirby without any of Saban’s coaches and I guarantee he wouldn’t be as successful as “The Goat”.
Negan: it’s cute that you think you know anything.,
About what I’d expect from a Jawja goobermonster.
You like em young don’t you? Of course you do, you’re a F U C K I N G P E D O P H I L E! Tell us something we don’t know? Stop having s e x with kids you f u c k i n g p e r v e r t.
Very insightful.
Hired by Saban worked at Lsu ,Miami, bama Coach Saban trained him He is Nick Saban . Georgia was built by one of the greatest coaches in Alabama history
Well that was a big ole nothing sandwich. Running out of material for football this time of year. OK.
Lol. Copium for the Gumps.
“I don’t see him going away anytime soon…”
A relative statement.
Aka “He may coach next year” and that could be what stoops means lol.
If Kirby stays even somewhat on track for the next 15yrs at UGA he will wreck “the Goats” records and still retire 8-10yrs earlier lol.
I believe Coach Nick Saban will continue to coach as long a she still enjoys coaching the game. A health situation would alter that schedule but nothing else. Roll Tide !
oops…as he still
VERY lazy, Farner.
The Little Man is done, stick a fork in em. You seen how defeated he looked at The National Championship Game when Pollack told him it was over.
Hey look, it’s another UGA p e d o p h i l e! Man you guys come out in droves huh? Just leave the kids alone you f u c k i n g p e r v e r t!
This was a vegan article, totally lacking any juicy beef tidbits. lol
So basically, Coach Stoops had nothing to say about Coach Saban retiring.
Farner is awful but at least this year we didn’t have to read his weekly Gary Danielson rant. I guess SDS told him 100 columns saying the same thing was enough.
