Rapid Reaction: Back-to-back! Georgia destroys TCU to repeat as national champs
No. Doubt.
Anthem to confetti, Georgia put together one of the most dominant title game performances Monday in Los Angeles, Calif., seemingly scoring at will en route to a 65-7 beatdown of TCU to win its 2nd consecutive national title.
The Dawgs set BCS/Playoff championship game records for most points scored and the widest margin of victory.
In the process, Georgia finished the season with 616 points, breaking last season’s program record of 579.
The Dawgs became the first repeat national champion since Alabama did it in 2011-12 and are sure to begin talks of a college football dynasty similar to those generally reserved for teams coached by Nick Saban.
Kirby Smart said before the game the Dawgs would hunt. And, boy, did they.
Any questions about how Georgia, nearly a 2-touchdown favorite entering the game, would fare against an upstart underdog like the Horned Frogs went out the building in the early moments of the first quarter. After forcing a TCU punt on its first drive of the game, Georgia went 57 yards in five plays, culminating in a 21-yard touchdown run by quarterback Stetson Bennett to give the Dawgs a 7-0 lead.
The play was executed so well that even the broadcast camera followed the wrong player, adjusting late as Bennett jogged into the end zone for the game’s opening score.
Bennett then added a 37-yard touchdown pass to a wide-open Ladd McConkey, another 6-yard touchdown run early in the second quarter and a 22-yard touchdown pass to AD Mitchell just before halftime.
All told, the Dawgs scored 5 TDs and kicked a field goal on their 6 first-half drives.
Mitchell’s score continued his streak of scoring a touchdown in each of the 4 College Football Playoff games he’s played in.
For a quarterback who has defied doubters and turned in impressive performance after impressive performance over the past 2 years, Bennett saved the best for last.
Playing in his final game for the Dawgs, Bennett, facing off against fellow Heisman Trophy finalist Max Duggan, was nearly perfect in the first half. Playing in his final collegiate game, the former Georgia walk-on – who has turned into a bona fide all-time college football great – looked as loose as he’s ever played. Laughing to the sideline after successful place. Tossing completion after completion to open receivers. Running for touchdowns.
By halftime, Bennett had completed 13-of-17 passes for 213 yards and 2 touchdowns to go with 39 yards and 2 touchdowns rushing. He finished with 304 yards pass and 6 total touchdowns (4 passing, 2 rushing), and earned offensive most valuable player honors, an award he has won in every CFP game he has played in.
As if to assuage any fears of an Atlanta Falcons-like collapse, Georgia continued to attack in the third quarter. Bennett added a 22-yard touchdown pass to tight end Brock Bowers with 10:52 left in the third and a 14-yard score to McConkey near the end of the quarter.
Bowers, who caught 5 passes for 102 yards before the break, finished with 7 catches for 152 yards and a score.
Backup running back Branson Robinson ran for 2 TDs to cap the scoring.
The Georgia defense, which had been ranked near the top of the list nationally throughout the regular season, had been questioned over the course of the past 2 games. Against LSU in the SEC Championship, Georgia gave up over 500 yards passing and 30 points. In the Peach Bowl, Ohio State quarterback CJ Stroud picked the Dawgs apart, scoring 41 points and nearly giving his team a victory.
On Monday night, the Dawgs were fantastic.
Cornerback Javon Bullard recorded 2 interceptions. The Georgia defense regularly punished Duggan, who finished 2nd in Heisman voting (ahead of Bennett). TCU finished with just 121 total yards in the first half.
The Horned Frogs finished the season 13-2, an incredible feat after being projected as the 7th-best team in the Big 12 entering the 2022 season. They finished last season with a losing record, but in first-year head coach Sonny Dykes’ first season at the helm put together one of the most improbably runs in recent memory.
Georgia’s 29-1 record over the past 2 seasons ties the modern record for most wins in a 2-year span. While Bennett will be gone next year – along with a host of other NFL hopefuls from the Dawgs – Georgia has a chance to go for the first 3-peat in modern college history.
We are the best!
UGA is the best. Can you act civil is the question.
Yes, UGA is the best!
Back to back
C’mon … you know the answer to that …
mlc0808 3 DAYS AGO
… 1 title every half century …
Don’t go away mad, just go Away…See ya
And there’s the answer!
Note: 3 days ago that was true.
What’s your problem with it?
Now it isn’t. Go troll the Vols. Don’t they have the longest streak in the east? but hey, they are also only one of 2 teams to debut at number 1 and miss the playoffs.
Wasn’t this Saban’s most talented team?

Congrats…
to that Bennett kid; I believe they gave the Heisman Trophy to the wrong QB!
Congrats to Kirby…
the only loss he’s had in two seasons is the one where he took a knee to kiss Saban’s ring; the taste of that one loss has to taste like… sh!t!
Act civil…
how would that be possible with the UT Martin Skyhawks waiting to have their feathers ripped to shreds in Athens on Sept 2, 2023…
that game is the opening act of one of the finest scheduling masterpieces any school could put together to ensure they will be in the playoffs after playing it.
The only civility we will be able to recall, when it comes to this Georgia football team, was the moment everyone believed Georgia had lost to Ohio State. Just before what could have been the field goal that would have been heard around the world was missed, we were able to see this Georgia football team in a humbled state of mind, that was the only joyful moment there was to claim there was a chance for some civility…
with the schedule that awaits Georgia next season, there is zero chance the Georgia fans have any reason whatsoever to be civil…
Not their fault the SEC said “hey…no Oklahoma for you”
Go look at how many OOC playoff teams UGA has on their schedule this decade. Good lord, Clemson and Ohio State in the same season. Meanwhile Tennessee ducks the Service Acadamies lol
You must be forgetting that Missouri clearly could have beaten Georgia this 2022 season.
Congrats to the Bulldogs and fans. But this game is no more than exactly what it was.
TCU was the 2nd best football team even in their conference.
Georgia had a big night of good execution and TCU quit early in the game. These things are not supposed to happen in sports but they do
One day you’ll recognize the difference between quitting and getting KO’d. No one was beating that team from Georgia last night…
I agree, humperrr…
Georgia played perfect, it was a joy to watch them play as well as they did!
I thought the two best QB’s in college football in 2022, were Stetson Bennet and Bryce Young. Both can will their teams to victory. Bennet sure did that against Ohio St. and against TCU…..they just ran into a nuclear powered buzzsaw.
I was watching with my dad, another lifelong Dawg and he said “I just hope we dont start acting like Bama fans.” There is arrogance in winning but its not from everyone in the fan base. Please don’t act like Bama has quietly gone about there business through 7 championships without many fans being brash and arrogant as well. Let’s be real.
Every team has them. Not much can be done about it in the age of the internet. No one was beating that team last night. They came prepared and ready to play. I think they’d a beat that 19 LSU team… Last night at least. Congrats!
As a Georgia fan, I’m saying the same thing as your dad. Enjoy what’s going on at Georgia, but don’t be arrogant. Some fans think that they’re part of a process and they’re out there coaching the team.
how many yards did you have exactly?
I had several beers lol
Yea at least TCU kept it close.
Right? Otherwise the game would’ve been mad boring.
Stunning. Wow, just Wow!
No Doubt! Back 2 Back!
Back to back to Beck!
That’s what’ll happen next year
My goodness. That was brutal.
Congrats, Dawgs. Just shows how much better the SEC is.
I don’t feel near as bad about the UGA loss now.
Great for Stetson Bennett. How Butterfingers Will Levis gets more hype than him I’ll never know.
See y’all next year!
The Will Levis hype is folks considering him an NFL prospect, whereas Bennet gets more attention I think for his college play and perhaps his razor thin NFL prospects.
The dynamic is not terribly far removed from the contrast/comparison of Matthew Stafford and Tim Tebow. One is a talented QB with an NFL skillset, the other has physical gifts that are leveraged well in the college game and intangibles off the scale.
Good game, Georgia.
The 3-3-5 Stack employs very active LBs, is very adjustment heavy, and is structurally weak on the edge.
Monken called a perfect game to exploit all these weaknesses: screens, misdirection, play action, sugar huddle, variable tempo, etc.
It was a clinc.
He’s the best coach on the staff. Kirby without Monken: 4 years, 1 conference title. With Monken: 3 years, dramatic scheme change, 1 conference title, 2 national titles. (Note: Saban won more titles with Kirby on staff than without as well, the difference being Monken is running his own offense and Kirby was very much running Nick’s defense (and still is)).
Joining the ranks of the other back-to-back title winners speaks for itself: it only happens about once a decade.
The 2023 schedule is extremely favorable for an unprecedented #3, even with a new signal-caller.
I was thinking the same thing about that 3-3-5 you can’t play that against a stronger opp you’ll get gashed by read options and stretch runs all day
Yeah, it’s a high school/BXII defense.
It doesn’t hold up against big bodies.
Like Tennessee’s offense
I think the jury’s out on that one. Georgia is more established in their system and recruiting than a program in Year 2. UT couldn’t execute. I think the 335’s flaws are structural … which is why no teams with deep talent run it. UTs offense is a variant of other systems that have been very successful. But this was Georgia’s year.
What team that runs Tennessee’s offense has won a title? I’ll hang up and listen.
Straw man. Nice try though!
I’m also sure I’d get a good laugh out of hearing you describe what you think Tennessee’s offense is.
I have a feeling we could pour all of your football knowledge into a shot glass … and not spill a drop.
Thanks for that test tube filled with all your football knowledge, 0808…riveting. First you say Kirby accomplished nothing without Monken- the greatest coach in the history or history …then you follow that up with Georgia is more established in their system and recruiting, and the connection flies right on past you…briill Liant
Tennessee’s offense. U mean the number one offense in the country. I know just terrible. Good God get it out of your head for one night and enjoy your title for gods sake…
I disagree. With future 1st, 2nd and 3rd round picks at DE, OLB and safety a 3-3-5 would not be “structurally weak on the edge”. Let me put it to you another way. When Nick Saban made 3-4 defenses all the range 12 years ago, a lot of lesser programs tried to imitate it and got crushed. Couldn’t stop the run. Not because the 3-4 is “structurally weak against the run.” Nope … it was because those schools couldn’t recruit big time front 7 talent to make it work. You had schools attempting to run the 3-4 with 270 lb. nose tackles and slow, undersized LBs.
TCU got humiliated like that because their defense was cobbled together from recruiting classes ranked in the 40s as well as guys they were able to add from the transfer portal. Were TCU playing a 3-4 or 4-3 defense the beating would have been even worse. Or, more likely, they never make the playoff at all.
If only your team had won more games…
You are the worst kind of winner. You can’t enjoy your victory without putting someone else down. Sad and pathetic.
Which team ‘with future 1st, 2nd and 3rd round picks at DE, OLB and safety’ runs the 335 Stack ?
Why not?
Becase there are sounder defenses to baee out of?
If it were equally sound, do you think we’d see some top team base out of it, if only for the advantage of being different than the rest of their opponents schedule?
You’re correct that it’s meant to be try and be an equalizer for lesser talent (coverage options, angles, speed in lieu of size, etc.) but it can only do so much if the talent differential is too big. You’re also correct that TCU is in it because they don’t have the personnel to base out of 34/43 and be successful (though by # of snaps played on the field nickel personnel is really the new ‘base’ anyway).
Conversely, on offense, ‘equalizer’ schemes (wishbone, spread) are often adopted (if sound) with exceptional results (OU, VY Texas and um … OU). If the Stack could be, it would be: better players, somewhat obviously, make good schemes better.
So what you’re saying in effect is the 335 stack is the defensive equivalent to the Paul Johnson triple-option?
Gotta have the coaching. Kirby Smart has done a fantastic job building UGA into a juggernaut.
Congrats to UGA. Heck of a game. Total domination. Looking forward to seeing you in Knoxville next year. Bennett is gone, but your heir apparent at QB looks good.
Congrats!
Thanks truth. Classy as always, cheers…
Congratulations to Georgia Leghumper! Dominant game, must have been nice to relax in the 1st quarter. :)
I actually felt bad for TCU, thanks GFA. I tell you, was not expecting a dominant performance like that! I gotta believe that somewhere out there, Jim Harbaugh was saying thank gawd we lost to TCU…
I don’t doubt that!
Did Max Duggan play tonight? I didn’t notice.
Saw him drawing circles in the grass a lot.
Sadly, TCU started ‘off’and seemed to throw in the towel fairly early. Credit for the latter obviously goes to their opponent.
By half time, the TCU players looked like they wanted to just go to the bus and head out to the airport instead of the locker took.
Yeah….it was a close game…..all the way to the opening kickoff. Then UGA opened up a warehouse full of ass kicking execution that overwhelmed TCU. If you’re Oregon you’ve got to feel better now about that 40+ point beating they took last September.
great game dawgs, and great season. shout out to our other SEC bros out there too!
Georgia….I pure straight hate you. But God dam&!t do I respect you. – Wes Mantooth
Dorothy Mantooth is a saint!
lmao, congrats dawgs
That sums up my feelings on Steve Spurrier so I respect that lol
Absolutely speechless. Never thought I’d see what UGA has accomplished the past two seasons.
HBTFD! GO Dawgs!!
Ain’t It so…how bout dem pups! Unbelievable
Back to Back Baby! Go DAWGS!
Wonder what Sonny Dykes thinks about that SEC now? Congrats Dogs!!!!
Alright I get the gripe other conferences have; the SEC should really stop scheduling these cupcake games late in the season. Bishop Sycamore I mean TCU stood no chance
?
i put a laughing emoji but it turned into that
Perhaps the worst National Championship of all time
Nevertheless, congrats to the Georgia Bulldogs
The first game I remember watching was the 81 Sugar Bowl but the first game I knew what was going on was the 96 Fiesta Bowl when Nebraska hung 62 on Florida. That was honestly the most dominant performance I’ve seen in an actual game (not someone playing a cupcake) until tonight. But fair enough…If you weren’t a Georgia Fan that would be a rough watch.
Tonight made that game look competitive honestly
Yeah, you aren’t wrong. Don’t see TCU coming back next year like your Gators though.
So you are over 50 acting like you are…
No. I am not over 50. Got some more insults?
Still a grown man. Don’t you got kids to take care of instead of being stuck on this site all day?
Point of view matters. Best IMHO. Go Dawgs!
UGA sleep walked through the Ohio St. game and had to “win the 4th quarter” as Smart tells them to survive. Unfortunately for TCU….they were fully awakened and motivated for TCU.
Yes Sir. Sic Em.
Congrats UGA! What a run of dominance these past two seasons!
How bout them Dawgs!
I think they averaged close to 1.5 pts per play. Outstanding effort.
Just did the math. 72 plays, 65 pts. Either way, 0.9 points per play isn’t bad.
Go Dawgs!
That was brutal. Congrats to UGA. Total domination.
Congratulations Georgia Fans on your incredible back to back championship seasons!! Enjoy your night!
non sequiter non sequiter non sequiter non sequiter non sequiter non sequiter
AS I SAID. Why aren’t we asking what can Duggan do against this Georgia D?
GO DAWGS BACK 2 BACK. Let’s GOOOOOO
Do you mean ‘non sequitur’?? Lol.
He played behind an O-line that lost it’s best starting tackle early and played guys out of their normal position all night against a d-line with Carter. If Georgia couldn’t exploit that they’re not a competent college defense … which, of course, they very much are.
Those are just the breaks in cfb. Georgia rolled.
Georgia’s offense still had *nothing* to do with Duggan’s bad night, which was what your still flawed argument was: offense vs. offense.
Glad I’m living rent free in your head though :)
I didn’t mention you.
Weird you showed up though? And no i meant non sequiter because that’s what I typed. Intentionally misspelled.
Again, nice try. My team won, don’t really care what you have to say.
Dude, you’re a joke.
How can a *college* be ‘your team’ if you didn’t go there as an undergrad?
I’ve never gotten that. Do you change it if they start losing of someone else starts winning more (probably)?
It just seems like poseurdom to me.
Where did you do your undergrad work at?
I did my undergrad at UGA, but I spent 20+ years in the Army and root for West Point when they aren’t playing Georgia. Does that meet the MLC0808 Standard lol?
Re my previous post both you and West Point were/are part of the Army so I respect that.
But ‘rooting’ is much different than calling yourself a ‘Black Knight’ (or more technically correct a ‘Cadet’ … and when and why did USAFA and USMA decide it wasnt good enough or cool enough to be called what they actually are any more?) and using ‘we’ when talking about the team.
‘WE DOMINATED!’
You watched TV…
mlc it’s apparent you don’t know what a fan is, nor the commonly accepted usage of the term “we” when referring to your favorite team. A little studying of the subject would do you good.
Only here in the South do we equate ‘fandom’ with ‘bandwagon a-hole’.
It’s entirely possible to support a team -tirelessly, enthusiastically, passionately- without:
a.) thinking you’re on it and
b.) displaying a total ack of class, civility, and sportsmanship (concepts also, sadly, long-lost in our region).
You can pick any team at random or because they’re trendy to be a fan of … but to me you’re a bad joke if you do,
So, if you didn’t Attend but you buy season tix and you support the booster events is it “we” or is it “phuk… you”, just asking for a friend…
Congratulations to tge Dawgs,, tremendous season,, tremendous 2 seasons and I really think they are the favorite next year!!! Respect
This game is proof the BCS point system was better. People are really gonna lose their minds in a few years when in the expanded playoff it comes down to 4 SEC teams in the semi-finals.
Congrats Dawgs!!! After Sonny Dykes’ comment about SEC scheduling I was hoping y’all would hang a 100 on them.
What if i told you that the simulated BCS rankings had the same top 4 as the playoffs…..
He’d probably point out that would have given us Georgia vs. Michigan and not Georgia vs. TCU?
So … a totally different match-up?
He said the point system was better, not the match up.
Nice try though.
That point system only existed to create a #1 vs. #2 matchup …
Which would have been at least different and likely better than what we got (given UGA/OSU, UM/OSU, BCR disparity, etc.)…
So … how’s he wrong, exactly?
Bama or Tennessee wasn’t there though. Sorry chump.

So, so mad.
So pathetically sad.
On Georgia’s biggest night ever to. Why not just enjoy it?
You’d really think someone from your proclaimed previous profession would possess more composure than the average 12 year old.
Sadly not.
Funny thing about Dykes’s comments was I haven’t noticed him chomping at the bit to get upper tier SEC schools on TCU’s schedule.
Thank the lord. Ever since TCU made the top 10 I’ve been saying they are overrated. Teams got close to proving me right, but never did. Finally it happened today.
Congratulations Dawgs!
*Actually KSU did beat them, however they were still included in the playoff
Michigan should send TCU a thank you card and a fruit basket
Now that’s funny
Hard to imagine KState looking anything but way better if they played GA instead of TCU
But the best thing about this game is the comparison of Georgia 2022 losing to Missouri till a last minute effort made an escape. So lightning and thunder and pouring rain had a lot more to say about Missouri at KState than even those of us who attended guessed.
How did K State look against that rinky dink team that didn’t even get to Atlanta?? What was it 45-20? No, I think that should have been a “SIGN” of the difference in Conference Talent!
What you want to understand is that Alabama at the end of the season was clearly better than KState AND Georgia was clearly better than TCU. That does not mean TCU gave it their best game. Really KState didn’t coach their best game against AL. Still the fact remains that the SEC looked a lot stronger than the Big 12 at bowl season .
I’m not convinced the Big 10 should have had 2 teams in those big bowls but they sure didn’t quit like TCU did and if you couldn’t recognize that you need to watch the game again.
You look at just about any team that wins a National championship and you’re going to see at least one and often more games where they’ve got to survive a team that they may be clearly more talented than, but who “on the day” just gives that team all they want and a lot more. Like Mizzou and UK did with UGA this year in the regular season and OSU did in the playoff.
In case you were wondering what would have happened if Tennessee and Georgia met on a neutral field…
Bro….you had us on YOUR field and it wasn’t this bad.
Don’t confuse him with facts.
It wasn’t that bad, but only because it started raining and Georgia stopped playing after half against Tennessee.
Good one remaster. Congrats to da dawgs !!!! Geaux SEC !!!
Got 2 more than South Carolina did against the $#itty Vols though.
Wow – my GC’s got a mention during the Natty threads! At least we did have a few good games, but against this GA bunch – not so much!
lol
When this Dawgs team is on they are nearly unbearable. I think they would’ve beat 2019 LSU last night. In the games against Oregon, Tennessee (even though it was more low scoring than the others), and TCU, the Dawgs just looked almost flawless. But then you have to question what happened against Mizzou, Kent St(?), and the Ohio State team that nearly beat them last week (and would have if not for a missed field goal). That same OSU team that got destroyed by Michigan, that God beat fairly handily but the same TCU team. College Football is odd. But I think what it goes to show is that Kirby is a master and getting his teams to feel disrespected, and to get them to play up to the absolute tip of the top of their ability when it’s all on the line. It really says something that GA seems to always play their best in the biggest games and on the biggest stages, at least these last couple years. So anyway all that to say, congrats GA! If you’re not already you are quickly approaching dynasty status. Keeping the kids humble and thirsty gets harder and harder from here but it seems like you’ve got the right coach for that. And he can handle all the other stuff too it seems (you know recruiting, development, coaching Xs and Os, etc.). Hoping Tennessee has a coach that can get us to where we can hang with our top rivals each year. Because when your top rivals are Bama Florida and GA, you’d better bring it each and every year, something the Vols haven’t been able to do consistently lately…
SEC, SEC, SEC!
(east)
Yes Sir! (I’m assuming). We all bust each other’s balls all year, but iron sharpens iron…
Ok now a more civil comment lol
As someone who has played D-1 football in a 3-3-5 I said it on a previous article, that works to use speed to make up for size. IT DOES NOT WORK WHEN THE OPPONENT HAS THE SAME SPEED AND HAS MORE SIZE.
Georgia backups also blew TCU out…for the record….gonna hate these long months until more college football but going to enjoy 365 more days as reigning champions.
Well we have basketbal and they aren’t terrible this year
I’m just going to cling to Hockey for the time being, considering I’m a pens fan lol and just hope for the best in football.
Best in basketball***
I didn’t know you played for Georgia.
K
When did they run 335?
Ohhhhh …
I get it now. My bad.
You’re not a Bulldog.
He said in a previous thread were he went what position he played and what base defense.
Which defenses are known to work reliably against teams with bigger/faster/better players than yours? Is that really a thing?
What a night to be a Dawg! The Vegas sharps that jumped all over the spread are crying in their champagne tonight. Doesn’t pay to bet against Kirby and Stet.
If Tua doesn’t complete the miracle UGA has 3 titles. Kirby’s on a heater.
Hats off the the Dawgs. Congrats.
Coulda, woulda, shoulda, didn’t.
Thats fair and correct. But did go back to back
Which is a big accomplishment, it’s only happened about once a decade lately and it’s really hard to do.
It is. And the teams that have done it were very good. It is hard to win one. 2 is special. On to next year which would be historic for sure.
Not since Minnesota, and that actually was another era (pre-1978 blocking rule change, pre-desegregation, pre-2 platoon ball, pre-modern nutrition/supplement/strength training).
That was before A&M’s last title so yeah…anything before Hi+ler invaded Polad is definitely another era. Ironically TCU’s last title is only one year older than A&M’s
Congrats GA. But that was so brutal and non competitive that I’m not sure that it was good for college ball.
I’ll bet the tune out ratings in the 2nd half will bear this out.
I care not
The 12 team playoff should take care of blowouts like this. It’ll be SEC versus SEC.
Yep. Football is not basketball. Folks are about to learn that. No way TCU makes it in a 12 team playoff. You end up with Georgia, Bama, Tennessee and Ohio State.
Yeah, that was my argument for the past few years as far as why we should expand.
Less blowouts and pretenders would be weeded out. This year if we had the playoff format TCU would have been ranked 7th and faced USC in the first round. I don’t think they beat USC.
I know they lost to Tulane but they did have some opt-outs so that wasn’t their full starting squad that played
Teams missing the playoffs and then stinking up their bowl is nothing new. You really can’t draw conclusions from non playoff bowl games.
Don’t get enamored with USC…Lincoln Riley would still find a way to lose his bowl game in the playoffs.
Lincoln’s brother called a heck of a game tonight!
While I don’t like the idea of the 12 team playoff as I think it extends the season far too long for college kids, I think in the end you’re right. If the other conferences are already upset about SEC dominance, wait till a few more SEC teams get into the playoffs and you’ve got SEC on SEC for the semi-finals and finals year in and year out. I guess then they’ll want to go back to the old bowl system prior to the BCS.
Unbelievable score line. Never in doubt. Great performance by the Dawgs!
Those that feel that Bennett didn’t belong on the Heisman stage should rewatch his CFP games.
If I’m an NFL GM I want to look really closely at Bennett. He’s a winner….pure and simple.
To the three teams that played in the SEC invitational, we thank you. Better luck when they expand the playoffs and four SEC teams make the tournament.
or more in some years.
Congrats Dawgs! Fantastic season!
TCU did nothing but become the biggest loser in CFP history.
Worst game ever please stop telling me SEC is not the best.
Any SEC team would have played better than TCU loser.
… well, I’ll give you the upper half of the SEC.
Last team I saw dominate like that in a championship game was the 95 Cornhuskers.
That’s exactly what it felt like. But that ’95 Florida team had more than 4 guys who’d ever been to a bowl game. That was total dominance.
I don’t see TCU regrouping and winning it all next year like those Gators either. Different era. I told my kid tonight he’d tell his kids about watching Stetson like I told him about Herschel back in the lean years
TCU would beat A&M by 2 scores
Not without #33 who injured in last week’s game. If I had remembered I would have bet the house Lol! Go Dawgs tonight. We’ll be seeing you again next season.
Had TCU played in the SEC and had Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, and LSU on their schedule, they’d have had 4 losses.
Congratulations Dawgs!!! Celebrate to when the sun comes up… and then celebrate some more.
So so proud of these Dawgs!
Incredible!!
Congratulations to Georgia. This is possibly the best team I have ever seen. How bad is Michigan? How bad is the Big 12? Hats off to the SEC teams that played them kind of close.
I’d put the 2019 LSU team against the best of the 2021/2022 teams Georgia could offer.
I’d love to see that game, but I wouldn’t put money on it. That 2019 team was terror on the field.
I dunno. I was thinking the same at first. But I don’t think that GA team was losing to anyone last night.
*wasn’t
Oh wait no after rebreading was is correct
*re-reading… Good lord
It’s insane people are wrong and still just can’t admit they were…..wrong.
Ignore the butt hurt. It’s all good.
You called it btw. How was TCU going to stop UGA’s offense? They weren’t.
Yeah it’s a good time to be a dawg!
Let’s enjoy the night!
In what way are you a dawg?
I paid a lot of tuition to the University. Is that enough?
I was talking to you, 2021.
So every fan of a team had to go there? I live in Alabama. Gonna be some disapointed folks in this state for sure. And I am not sure most Vol fans finished Elementary school, let alone college.
*wasn’t
In my opinion it’s phony (and sad and weak) to identify yourself as part of an institution that you were actually never a part of, seeking some kind of reflected glory from their achievements, and then use that to try and pump yourself up and put others down.
It’s like when people say ‘I was going to join the Marines’ … well, if my aunt had balls she’d be my uncle, but she ain’t and you didn’t.
Yes, I get that it’s a *big* Southern thing to do so, I live here too.
It’s a free country though so folks can go be a Laker/Cowboy/Yankee/Bulldog all day long if they want to be!
But I don’t have to (and frankly don’t) respect it.
I know, right?
It’s great to be a Georgia Bulldog!
Great Victory Georgia Bulldogs, and Stetson Bennett , The Heisman Folks
another one flat wrong by going with the Quarterback from USC.and not awarding it to Stetson Bennette a former walk on Quarterback who now has
Won Two national Championships a Cinderella Story for sure !! Good Job Bulldogs
Anything shown on Hallmark channel would have been more entertaining. I guess cool for Georgia fans, but snoozefest for sure on excitement.
You got a remote, change it. But sometimes teams get blown out. See South Carolina vs. Tennessee and Kirby wann’t hired to make an entertaining final…he was hired to bring trophies to Athens. Mission Accomplished! And Real Mission Accomplished…not that George W Mission Accomplished lol
Oh don’t worry I did get my remote. Only watched about 5 minutes of it entirely cause no pony in the race so who cares. Like I said, good for Georgia fans, but for NCAA trying to make a case they solved the puzzle people were made about during bcs era, they didn’t, and I’m sure 12 teams will have major flaws too.
No “system” will make everyone “happy”. In the old days for the most part it was obvious who the best team was at the end of the year whether it be the “bowl system” or the “BCS”. There was no doubt that UGA was the best team in the country this year so the playoffs didn’t really “settle” anything other than to prove that UGA could play its worst game in years and beat Ohio St. and it’s best game in a decade and crush TCU.
Totally. I bet 80% of the country tuned out after the first quarter, but Georgia and SEC fans loved it.
The NCAA.is dead
Did Aaron Hernandez shoot it?
Oof! Stinger! Congrats Dawgs! Job well done!
Great game by Georgia. That was almost as bad as UGA @ Vandy in 2021. TCU looked so good against Michigan. I can’t believe they fell apart like that. Kirby and Monken really had TCU figured out. Event Georgia’s seconds and thirds were running TCU back.
Go Dawgs.
15 – 0
So as every article about the Dawgs on SDS this year began with something about “their first championship since 1980” or “in 41 years” will next year begin with “since 2021” os “in 1 year?” Asking for Matt Hayes.
They’ll all be about a potential three-peat, until and unless there’s a second loss.
I mean, those were the facts when those other articles were written though … why are you *so* butthurt about it? Until last year Georgia post-Dooley was a definitively under-acheivachieving program. That’s finally changed. Why be *so* fixated on the past?
Just to p!ss you off
Enjoy another preseason Natty
Naw it’ll be “Repeat Champs pushing for 3-peat” over and over, ad nauseum. Congrats to the Dawgs, but I still hate you. Ha.
29-1 is not the best record over 2 seasons, Nebraska 94 & 95 went 25-0 with 2 titles. It is the most wins, so a little misleading.
What a way for Stetson to finish his Georgia career! You couldn’t have scripted it any better!
Back-To-Back! Unreal! What a run it has been…
The TCU D-line bullied the Joe Moore award winning Michigan O-line.
9-days later, The Georgia O-line crushed that same TCU D-line.
The Joe Moore award voters got it wrong, again! After tonight, there can be no doubt!
All I remember from last year were all the ‘turds and Gumps here (Hillbillies knew their place then and didn’t talk) talking about how it was gonna take another 41 years for the Dawgs to win another title.
Now we’ve done it. It didn’t even take a full year. It only took 364 days.
Now we’ve done something Saban has NEVER done (gone 15-0).
We surpassed FU’s number of National Titles while winning our second while being undefeated, something the ‘turds have never done.
It’s great. To be. A Georgia. Bulldog!
I said it’s great to be a Georgia Bulldog!
I said it’s great to be a Georgia Bulldog!
Go Dawgs! Sic’Em!
BACK TO BACK, BABY!!!
Man what a beat down. Kirby said the game plan was “aggression.” Played it to a tee. Essentially one busted coverage away from a shutout while setting scoring records. That and the missed PAT are about all there is to criticize. The 2s and 3s even got after it. Not the most exciting game but I’m not complaining.
Ouch said TCU. Brutal beat down. Congrats on the Natty, Dawgs!
Congrats to the Dawgs
What. A. Beatdown.
I didn’t watch, but my eyes popped when I saw the score.
Here’s to Georgia. Congratulations! The way the Dawgs destroyed TCU was proof that TCU didn’t belong in the playoffs. They were lucky to slip by Michigan and you guys just dominated them.
I’ll go as fas as to say no team from the BIG12 belongs in the playoffs. Just look at how many playoff games Oklahoma won when they were a common participant. There’s really only one championship quality conference….SEC.
Or….that UGA was simply that much better than the other teams in the playoffs.
Congrats Dawgs. Awesome performance.
What a dominating performance… After beating Michigan, I thought TCU would make this an interesting game. The Dawgs really showed up for this. Congrats on the back to back!
This wasn’t shocking. What was shocking was people thinking TCU had a chance. Their won loss record was impressive but they weren’t impressive. They play in a weak conference where they narrowly won most games. Their last four games were a fire drill fg on the last play to beat an average Baylor team, a blowout of a bad Iowa St, a loss to K St, and a narrow win against a good but not great Michigan team where everything went their way. Keep in mind that Michigan would be fifth in composite talent in the SEC. If you look at the talent composition of the big 12 teams you will see that Texas and OU are the only teams that are inside of the top 32 and they were massive under performers this year. In the end this game played out as it should. The team with the massive talent advantage winning in a blowout. So let’s bring on the 12 team playoffs where we can watch a bunch these type of games.
Congrats to all the Dawg fans. Your team left no doubt this year. Way to represent the SEC!!! I have gained a lot of admiration and respect for both Kirby and Bennett. True competitors. Well done!
Did TCU know they were in a bowl game? Yowzaa, what a beatdown!
Congrats to UGA….and Kirby Smart.
Congratulations to UGA on a completely dominant win and another Nat. Championship.
Also it’s nice to have on the books a CFB championship game with a worse blowout than the 1995 Nebraska/UF championship game. . . . :)
As a well-known saying in the dog show world, “Every dog has it’s day!” What a year! Star, the English Bulldog won Best In Show & crowned National Champion in the AKC. The Georgia Bulldogs are crowned National Champions in the world of college football. Congratulations on obliterating TCU! Enjoy the win guys!!
Congrats Dawgs on what was the most dominant win in college football national championship history. Great team, great season. Nuff said! See y’all next year!
Awesome game dawgs! The only sad thing about UGA’s season is Stetson Bennett was robbed of the Heisman Trophy!
Like I said…I thought the two best QB’s by far in 2022, were Stetson Bennett and Bryce Young. Bennett did as he’s done for the past two years….kept his mouth shut and let his leadership and play do all the “talking” that needed to be done.
