Kentucky makes history in strong victory over Tennessee in Knoxville
Kentucky has achieved many historic events as a basketball program. On Saturday, the Wildcats achieved another historic event in a season that seemed unlikely to accomplish much of anything.
The Wildcats came into Knoxville with a record of 10-6 to take on No. 5 Tennessee. After a strong start in the first half, Kentucky held on to win 63-56 over a top-10 Tennessee squad in Knoxville for the first time in men’s program history.

Forward Oscar Tshiebwe (15 points) and guard CJ Fredrick (13 points) were the key starters for the Wildcats while guard Antonio Reeves (18 points) provided extra support off the bench.
Kentucky shot 18-of-51 (35.3%) in field goals and 22-of-25 (88%) at the free-throw line. Tennessee was 23-of-57 (40.4%) in field goals but only got to the free-throw line for 10 attempts.
Kentucky came into the game with a 0-3 record versus top 25 teams. The Wildcats have won their second SEC game this season in the first 5 games in SEC play. This loss to Kentucky is Tennessee’s first loss in SEC play.
Such a misleading take on the “making history” part. How many times has UK played a “top 5 UT” in Knoxville? Twice? I don’t know but it couldn’t be many.
“Top 10”
Yeah I had the same thought, how may opportunities catching the Vols as a Top 10 team have there actually been over the years?
I don’t know but when ky beating UT is historical and program saving it’s not all bad…
Go back to your single wide Fuzzyvoltard
My single wide beats your cardboard box you toothless, sister banging POS.
Hey fuzzy where is the rest of the UT trolls at? They been on here all week but as always after they are disappointed they go back to hiding
Hey fuzzy, our worst team can beat your best team in Knoxville. Let that sink in for awhile
Tn fans are classless! I was at the game!
Before KY fans get too carried away with the pats on the back, I’d take a long pause and see how they play the next few games. TN missed some easy buckets at the rim they normally don’t miss and kept this game close. Definitely a hard fought game on both sides. The one definite positive that came of this game was making free throws. That’s been missing and has not helped the Cats. Long way to go, but I’m proud of the effort on the road.
Agree Cats Fan in the Ville. Let’s see if they can keep it going for few more but with all the talk UT fans talking this past week it sure good to see them off the UK page.
