Star Kentucky defensive lineman Justin Rogers, after playing perhaps the best season of his collegiate career, has reportedly filed paperwork to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal, per 247Sports’ Steve Wiltfong.
Rogers, a 3-year veteran on the Wildcats defense, will have 2 remaining seasons of eligibility and was rated as the No. 7 overall defensive lineman in the Class of 2020.
Hearing #Kentucky DL Justin Rogers has filed paperwork to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal. Has 60 tackles over three seasons with the Wildcats. Out of Oak Park (Mich.) High, he was the @247Sports Composite’s No. 7 DL in the 2020 class. https://t.co/TxhIRqPBTr

Rogers totaled 36 tackles for the Wildcats this season and was primed to be a major factor for Kentucky next season.
This now makes 12 players who have entered the portal for the Wildcats. The transfer window closes on Jan. 18.
Go get paid young man.
Tough loss, good luck to him.
You usually don’t blink an eye at these transfers but this one hurts. He was finally coming into his own. Best of luck to him.
As a starter, and pretty productive nose tackle, I’m wondering why he’s taking this path? I saw some early reports he might be considering the portal before the bowl game, but surprising he played if he planned on leaving. Don’t know much about him off the field, but after a slow start, his last year was pretty good and he seemed like a good teammate. Well, best of luck to him….
Yep…surprised me, too. He always seemed really happy to be here and committed to the program. Big loss, but we have some dudes ready to step in. But I hope he changes his mind and stays put.
KSR reports it’s an NIL issue… I’m sure if they can get the money, he could return. Who knows.
Really hate to hear that. I was a big fan of Rogers thought he was fixing do big things and probably will just somewhere else. He was from Michigan so wouldn’t surprise me to see him end up somewhere up that way. Like said playing time wasn’t a problem for him maybe there a kid behind him on depth chart that is impressive. Every team in country has had a loss like this we should of known eventually we lose a starter.
With or without him KY will not be making the playoffs anytime soon they have too much uphill battles against tougher SEC that are getting better when Ky is regressing. (Vandy and SC beat them this year) also the reemergence of TN and you know Florida will be back and the national champion GA always beats KY. So playoffs at this point is non-existent
You should save yourself the aggravation of being a fan of the program. Maybe Louisville is more your speed. With their new coach and the weak ACC, they could be playing in a conf championship within a couple of year.
I don’t know why the troll even bothers posting. Nobody reads what he writes. When I see the name I immediately scroll to next comment. Pretty sure most people do.
