Jaden Rashada, Florida signee, reportedly makes decision on Gators' future
Jaden Rashada has reportedly made a decision about his future at Florida.
The quarterback recruit has requested to be released from his National Letter of Intent, according to Pete Nakos of On3 Sports. Rashada held a call with Scott Stricklin Wednesday, requesting the release. His request now heads to the NCAA.
Rumors have swirled in recent days about Rashada and whether he would continue with the Gators’ program. He reportedly was not enrolled by Tuesday, even though he was listed in the Florida student directory based on being accepted due to his academic merits. This is a distinction from being enrolled at the university. The cause for concern around Florida fans stems from other early enrollees moving in on campus.
About 2 months ago, Rashada flipped his commitment from Miami to Florida. When he committed, the 6-foot-4, 185-pound signal caller was ranked as the nation’s No. 6 overall quarterback and the No. 17 overall prospect, according to 247Sports Composite Rankings. He’s the No. 5 ranked player in the state of California.

I guess he didn’t have the courage to test himself against Mertz the Mertzilous! Smart move on his part to run as Mertz redefines the QB position and wins the Heisman!
I know you are being sarcastic but he was not going to be ready from day one anyways. Hope you understand this is not on Napier but on the NIL collective
Not blaming Napier at all. I am also not a fan of unreliable people who don’t understand the word commitment. Rashada is a Martell and will be running from one program to another looking for payoutx.
His first stop will be the last stop where he’ll have leverage. He’s been a big fish in a small pond. Now, he has to grow and develop, both physically and mentally, yet his focus is not there.
Good luck to Jaden. Hope he finds what he’s looking for.
Others are saying his NIL deal was a no deal.
Now all you think you know it all Florida fans who come in here bashing me and running your mouths. I TOLD YOU AND HAVE BEEN TELLING YOU.
Swamp Gas kicked me off for telling them a few weeks ago and they said “Oh yeah you have inside information oh yeah we’ll see”. Then they banned me and now you Gator fans here talking about me
I been telling you this team and this staff are over their heads.
Try the AD…he’s been in over his head from the moment he was hired.
Bingo.
And, there’s another possibility – he’s been reading your tick turd posts and got cold feet on a program he was enthusiastic about just a few weeks ago. That would of course be the ultimate self-inflicted sucking head wound, so were that the case you would be, I’m quite sure, very proud of your narcissistic self. That you take joy in the misfortune of your alleged team in favor of your emotive based opinion is truly appalling and underwrites poor character development.
It’s no great puzzle that you’ve been banned by other sites, but we concluded the same dynamics about you the moment you dragged your sorry carcass over here. Perhaps there’s some self-reflection potential in that for you, though probably not given that you make your assessments purely out of emotion rather than objective logic.
For the record, I oppose the nature of censorship and banning in the context of the 1st Amendment, but with your apparent lack of self-monitoring and other statements I’m led to believe that you’re very into cancel culture yourself – as long as it doesn’t happen to you. Suggest you take your Crusader Rabbit complex to another forum – you’ve entirely worn out your credibility on this one.
Doc, his chromosome chain inevitably links to Negan. Those are some bad apples underneath that tree.
Doc!!! You are the man bro.
Impressive analysis Neal. The elevator definitely doesn’t reach the top floor for that guy.
Nicely done doc.
Well…. If this is the case Doc, and the young man was reading posts by some random fan and got cold feet; then he probably doesn’t have the testicular fortitude to be the starting QB at a big time university. He, in turn, probably did ya’ll a favor by backing out….
Agree, but I’m reading now that Florida shares some of the culpability in the NIL. As Nash says, “We don’t know what we don’t know”. Any way you slice it though, I’m sure Billy Napier wishes he didn’t have a buzz cut so he’d be able to pull his hair out.
Great post Doc ! Agreed 400%
Ever heard of NIL??????????????
Has Florida?
We’ll gagator, Rashada’s dad said he didn’t request a release from his LOI, what do you have to say about that?
Inasmuch as you can expect crickets as a response, I’ll step into the void and give you Lakelife’s answer:
“Sunbelt Billy, the source of everything that’s wrong with college football and the external world aside from DT, a known liar and loser who is over his head and on a mission to ruin both Gator football and MY life, made that up and attributed it to Rashada’s dad. When are you guys going to start listening to me? Throw me a bone, need the attention, I stand for truth, justice, and am the only person in the world with any sense”.
Who’s DT?
The Donald
Ahhh, now I get it
Can’t figure out all the g8rlake hate from you guys…it is obvious to me that he is the only G8r alum on this thread that has a degree in Rubric Ontology. I find his takes refreshingly germane and quite comedic in a spiritual realm…
It’s not hate, Humper, we’re just tired of one dimensionality.
What doc said, hate is a harsh word and even worse emotion
No hate, Leghumper, just incredulity and lack of comprehension about his spewing hatred for CBN and AR.
gagatorlakelife,
I listened to you!! In fact, let me get my popcorn and sit down in my recliner.
Ok now tell me exactly just how in “over their heads” the Florida staff is – I’m ready to hear it.
Ah……the old tried and true “everyone’s wrong but me” and “why is everyone’s so mean to me”. You sound like one of those “sensitive” and “misunderstood” fellas.
Poor baby.
What is the deal with the collective here? Outta funds or is the kid upping the ante?
Upping the ante. He’ll land elsewhere, then jump again next year.
It definitely needs to get in gear.
NIL giveth and NIL taketh
9-3

1998
BTW, It has been 8773 Days since Tennessee last won an NCAA Football Title.
Mr professor, you forgot the leap years in your post.
Dawgs2021…That post is the best of the day. Trophy on order.
Shut up Afan
Still mad that we beat y’all?
1 Win in 15 years and you needed the divine intervention of the Football Gods. Good job I guess. Good lord even in the 90’s when the Gators owned us we did better than that. Then again, you weren’t much better against your heated rival back in your glory days.
9-3 incoming
1998
volfanfl…I was actually commenting on his post “NIL giveth and NIL taketh away”. I must be living rent-free in Vol fans heads now. How Sweet !
1998.
1998 you tool bag. Back to back National Championships and we own your pathetic school.
BE IT RESOLVED HEREAFTER AND EVERMORE: You are the new Champion of Life.
“pathetic school”
Don’t forget we owned your team for a near decade.
Or would you perfer not to remember that?
Yes…Tennesssee owned Georgia back when one could turn on the Radio and hear the phrase “Here’s a new one from Nirvana” lol. Nice Job.
I remember the days Tennessee owned Georgia fondly. Those Cliton Jokes on Lenno and Letterman were Hilarious and Norm MacDonald was killing it with the OJ Jokes on SNL. Did you find Monica Lewinsky attractive back then?
Howard from LSU is available. I’m just guessing, but I think UF and Auburn have good shots at him, and a definite need. I would think that losing Rashada helps the Gators chances.
Howard will not face the dark powers of Lord Mertzilous. Casting off his disguise as a mediocre Big Ten reject, Mertz has arisen, revealing himself none other than the ruler of Mertzdor and the Lord of The Rings! Utah is now begging UF to let them out of their game with us because they fear for the safety and lives of their players against Mertz, who is more a supernatural force than a mere mortal.
No. No. He scared Rashadz off, and Howsrd, too, can only tremble in terror if anyone even dares whisper “Meeeeeedrrrrrtz.”
Man, you’ve got a way with words, Truth.
As you’ve often said, “We’ll see” …. but I’m hoping Miller rises to the occasion too!
Done deal to TCU before ever entering the portal.
I knew he would never dare challenge Hypno-Mertz and his mind bending QB stylings.
That would mean poaching, and that’s illegal.
Happening daily now.
That’s a fact, JTF. In the words of Dawgs2021, “The NIL giveth and the NIL taketh away”.
The NCAA either needs to get involved or drop the no tampering rule.
As I posted earlier today, I “don’t know what I don’t know”, but I surmised that sometime between his weekend Under Armour game in Orlando this weekend and today, some other school or collective rushed in with an “11th hour, 59th minute” financial package that UF was either unable or unwilling to meet, and now the kid is gone! This won’t be the last time that this happens to the Gators or anyone else, now that NIL is the “law of the land”! Allegiance to a school now means nothing, it’s all about the $$$$….and, this old timer doesn’t think that he personally can adjust, fan-wise!
Before my Tide, Vols, Dawgs, Buckeyes, etc….comrades poke too much fun at the Gators, be warned…you may be next! However well meaning it was initially, NIL is a financial cancer to college sports, and football in particular!
NIL is just the new bargaining tool to be used by players, the same way coaches play a potential NFL contract. The problem with players these days is they don’t seem to understand what a commitment means. To said players: IT’S NOT A SUGGESTION, IT’S CALLED A COMMITMENT FOR A REASON. The kid leaned toward the Gators, committed to Miami, changed his mind and committed to the Gators, changed his mind and who knows where he’ll end up. If he wants out open the door for him and let him out.
There it is, tailwhip. Unfortunately, it’s not just football – it’s cultural now.
He did more than commit to the Gators. He signed a legal contract and now he’s asking to be released from his obligation.
Not only is his word not worth much. Neither is his signature on that legal document. Doesn’t speak much for Rashada and even less the culture that produced him.
If he cannot read-n-write he probably does not understand the word “Contract”. Problem identified.
Foodman, you and tailwhip nailed it…..this old-timer has seen it the same way since jump street. Welcome to the post-modern world in which we now live.
People saying he was lied to about his NIL deal
Interesting. Do you have a source? I just want to read more about it.
That story is likely being floated by his camp to try to ward off any hit to his reputation on this second change of mind. More likely, he just got a much better offer that UF couldn’t or wouldn’t match. Perhaps we’ll learn from who in a few days.
My tea leaves say Phil Knight has entered the picture.
Yup
I just read elsewhere that this “NIL issue arose the day after early signing day.”
Since Oregon lost their 5-star QB to UCLA on signing day, your theory that Phil Knight reached out to the Rashadas that very day makes sense.
End of the line for Rashada and UF is tomorrow morning. So, the circus may leave town tomorrow.
If I was in charge of the Gator NIL collective, I wouldn’t match another offer now. That’s the road to complete chaos!
People….you know, the “they said” folks
Florida probably was outbid on this kid. We will not know the real reason. He’ll just enroll late somewhere else and become a AB bust.
Whatever the reason is this one is a black eye to the program … if he got a better offer That is one thing but if the collective lied to him and did not pay that is killer .
Getting harder and harder to see light at the end of this tunnel.
247 sports is saying this is false
Yes. Rashada’s father has denied the report in a text message.
There is no light at the end of the Name-Image-Likeness tunnel; only more darkness.
Well . . . .
Whoever the Florida fan is who keeps saying “well at least it can’t get worse” needs to stop talking. Or start knocking on wood.
Thanks for the laugh…..definitely need it with the sky is falling crowd constantly posting.
You’d think at some point I’d feel bad for all you ‘turds in your misfortune, but no. I lived through 12 years of The Ol’ Bourbon Coach running his mouth and another 6 of the self-righteous hypocrisy Corch Irvin Meyers.
Y’all deserve every bad thing y’all have coming to you, and I’m gonna sit here and laugh about it forever and ever and ever.
Schadenfreude is REAL!!!
SO rent free that you named an entire head coach as yourself…
1998.
That’s all you got? Wow, and Leghumper said you were smart.
Leghumper also said it was an honor when I compared him to Negan so there you go. That puppy is amusing but not very smart
Yes he did. This is at least the 3rd version of Meyer as part of his SDS name. The previous one showed how stupid his predictions are and yet it took him 2 years to change it,
That is one dense puppy
It’s funny that you think we care what you think. And sad that you were hurt so badly by the results of a game.
It hurt him so bad that he readily admits that he will never get over it. That’s just sad and pathetic.
Much like Steve Spurrier, who never got over losing to the Dawgs in 1966. NEVER. You don’t know that story, POG?
First off, you don’t know if he’s over it or not. Secondly, he was actually a player. You’re a fan living vicariously through people like him. Comical.
Comical but more importantly, pathetic
Shht man, another perfectly good Heisman sign wasted, I even had the R in Rashada Blue Block Letters double highlighted in puke orange…bummer
Hang on to your Rashada signs a bit longer this soap opera ain’t over yet
If your puke is Orange you are either doing an Orange tang cleanse or you need to go to the doctor.
Which word is entirely out of place?
Se xy “red” dress
Se xy “black” dress
Se xy “orange” dress
Case closed gfa
Not sure what that has to do with Orange puke, but if you google se xy Orange dress I think you’ll see otherwise :)
Humper, ‘clear’ being my next favorite color to fried chicken, I kind of naturally prefer a “se xy cellophane dress”. Depending on who’s wearing it, of course. Now the case is closed!
2008.
12/15/1791.
At least get your sorry insults right:
1996. 2006. 2008.
Eight SEC Championships
13 SEC Division Championships
Three Heisman winners
Corchi, if you could cry a little more forcefully it might sway some people to feel sorry for you here. I’d try the Vols first.
Pops is saying different….
Pops sees those zeros getting omitted.
Just when you think things can’t get any weirder we get this:
UPDATE: Harlen Rashada, the father of Gators quarterback signee Jaden Rashada, told Brandon Huffman of 247 that the 2023 signal-caller has NOT requested a release from his signed Letter of Intent with UF as reported by On3 Sports on Wednesday afternoon.
Brother, when does football season start again? I’m getting too old to put up with all this drama of the offseason. Where’s Daz Wazzle when we need him? (:
Neil, forgive me for my old fashioned intolerance, but now I just hope the Gators offer the kid a do over and the Rashadas take their traveling circus elsewhere. I hear Auburn is looking for QBs.
Agreed doc. If he wants to be a Gator and this is all just the media creating drama, I hope he enrolls soon so it will be over. If he doesn’t want to be a Gator, I’d rather he go somewhere else and they can find someone who really wants to be at UF.
Agreed. If this is just the Interwebs gone wild, just get here and get started. If there’s any truth to any of it, just move on and be done with it.
Nash, it’s hard to imagine a simple solution being put forth. Drama rules the day now. What a shame.
What a fraking soap opera
The Gators haven’t played an out-of-state, out-of-conference “road game” since losing to Syracuse in the Carrier Dome on September 21, 1991.
That was over 30 years ago…
What does that have to do with Rashada??
It has nothing to do with Rashada Gatorfan, and i’m wondering why anyone would care so much as to where or when the Gators play. The obsession is real my friend.
Agreed!
And the point of this is what ?
It’s simple, there is no point.
Guess you have this meaningless tidbit on copy & paste to quickly post on random articles. Good for you.
Maybe I can do something similar.
AnonymousFan hasn’t taken a shower or bath, in a “private” or public facility since being turned down by his high school crush in The School For The Mentally Challenged on September 21, 2016
and it will end this September, get some new material you loser
It’s obvious the problem at UF is the Starkville Loser Stricklin and Jeremy Foley still in the building having pull.
Hopefully the new President Sasse will wise up and send them both out the door.
I heard a question asked on a podcast recently and I didn’t have a good answer. How does it benefit a player to sign a NLI? IT’s not a requirement for a player to sign one to attend a school or get a scholarship, it’s just something that’s helpful for the schools to plan. It’s great for lower-level players for them to secure a scholarship spot. For someone like Rashada or other top 50 players who’d get a spot no matter where they decided to go, though, why even both signing a NLI.
The NCAA better get in gear and place some rules on this process. I know I’m stating the obvious.
The NLI is a standard document all schools are required to produce and all student athletes are required to sign it by the NCAA.
As a matter of fact, even if UF agrees to release Rashada from his NLI commitment, the NLI and UF’s release request must go to the NCAA for their approval.
Eliminating that requirement is a major rule change for the NCAA, since they use NLI’s to control the value of remuneration packages offered by different schools. Changing or eliminating the NLI rule has antitrust implications, as both players and universities could challenge any new rules in court.
This is not to say that if the Rashada NIL deal doesn’t get worked out and UF, or the NCAA refuse to release him from his NLI commitment, that he wouldn’t sue one or both in federal court.
So, the NCAA is d a m n e d if they do and d a m n e d if they don’t.
Vols are at least trending in the right direction
Georgia spent a little time between titles. They are on top now.
I’ve lived long enough to know that everything changes
Nobody can say anything to knock the smile off my face
Then again, that smile on your face could just be gas.
But seriously, I’m with you – if nothing else, college football is always cyclical. BTW, much to the chagrin of some of my Gator pals, I’ve been saying since Spring that Tennessee is for real.
They should have released him. I wouldn’t want anyone on my roster that didn’t want to be there.
0935Z20230114.
Rashada had until 2359L Friday to enroll. Crickets.
Doc, out of idle curiosity and with nothing better to do, I watched and read everything I could find from reasonably credible sources (The Athletic, Swamp 247, Edgar Thompson (Orlando Sentinel) and Josh Pate. The Athletic has a timeline of events.
By all accounts, Rashada has never wavered in his desire to play for Florida. He was reportedly sent a letter from the Gator Collective that terminated his NIL offer. If true, this could be a huge legal mess (a possible breach of contract) that goes way beyond whether he ends up playing for Florida.
Strickland is not involved. Napier is not involved. None of the really big Gator boosters (Heavener, Condron) are involved.
If I had to hazard a guess, and it’s just a guess, it would be that Hugh Hathcock (a 1-1/2 tier guy with crazy money but perhaps not crazy cash liquidity) may have gotten out over his skis in the frenzy to one-up Miami and made promises that he couldn’t keep.
Thanks for the work, Nash. I think what you surmise may indeed turn out to be accurate, regardless of spin by the NIL Collective that is certainly forthcoming. Bottom line: NIL culpability.
Not a good look for Florida football if this turns out to be the case …. shoot, it’s already a bad look with the few nugs of info that we have. More importantly, there will potentially very durable, residual consequences to the program – just as CBN is getting traction. In my world, that comes down to one trait that is never compromised or negotiable for a man: Honor.
We of course understand that NIL collectives are a separate entity from the universities and their respective athletic programs. However, that in no way influences the so-called public perception of an 18-year-old and his or her parents. Were I one of those, I’d be suspicious of entering into an agreement of any kind with the University of Florida for a very long time. Trust is tied to honor at the hip.
Part of the problem with NIL is that you are not entering into an agreement with the university. But I take your point: It’s a bad look.
I wouldn’t be surprised, moving forward, if the University forces the clowns running the Gator Collective to escrow promised payments. That’s what I’d demand as a player and parent.
And incidentally, this sort of stuff has reportedly occurred around other NIL programs too.
All that said, offering a reported $13 million deal to a guy with a roughly 60% high school CMP ratio is absolutely nuts.
Concur, strongly and with great conviction.
