Spencer Sanders, former Oklahoma State QB, reportedly commits to SEC West program
Spencer Sanders has found a home in the SEC.
The former Oklahoma State quarterback has committed to Ole Miss, Chris Low of ESPN reported, as his choice came down to Ole Miss and Auburn. This came after former LSU QB Walker Howard also committed to the Rebels.
Sanders threw for 2,642 yards, 17 touchdowns and 9 interceptions last season. Sanders is a dual threat quarterback and the former Big 12 Player of the Year.
Sanders was one of the top QBs on the transfer market, and has turned heads since he set an Oklahoma State freshman record throwing for 2,065 yards that season despite missing the final 2 games with an injury.
Another huge portal get for @Lane_Kiffin. QB Spencer Sanders tells ESPN he will play for @OleMissFB in 2023. His choice came down to Ole Miss and Auburn. Rebels had already landed 5-star QB Walker Howard. Sanders was a 4-year starter for @CowboyFB and accounted for 85 career TDs.

Did something change where there is more than one QB in the backfield at a time. What was so wrong with Dart that they are bringing in 2 more clipboard holders?
Dart was the only scholarship QB prior to Howard and Sanders joining.
It’s called he didn’t want to play for the Revered Freeze.
He also didn’t have an offer from us.
When someone was deciding between two schools it means he had an offer from those two schools.
No transfer portal player in existence will say…”well, I have two choices, a school that offered and one that didn’t. Which one should I choose?”
No, had Auburn not offered he would have considered them.
I have yet to see anywhere where Sanders himself said he was deciding between multiple schools.
Dart was not a typical Kiffin QB, something is missing
Interesting. Howard left LSU because he was going to be 3rd team. Maybe he can beat out Dart and Sanders, maybe not. He could be warming the bench for another year.
Joe Burrow was third or fourth string at OSU, Alabama has a bevy of QB’s as well. I’ve been hearing that Dart is the guy and Walker is the future. If something happens to Dart, Walker may need another year of nurturing whereas Spencer could be plug and play.
I figured the auburn rumors were more likely. I didn’t think dart was outstanding, but I imagine he has a leg up her. Sanders is a proven commodity and extremely athletic, though. Wonder if a transfer is coming in the spring?
Interestingly, I heard that Auburn wasn’t entirely sold an Spencer and that O State was a little frustrated with him as well. That would mean that there weren’t bunches of spots welcoming him with open arms.
One of those 3 from Ole Miss will probably transfer after spring ball, depending on where they end up on the depth chart. Perhaps Sanders moves over to Auburn if he is 2nd or 3rd.
Perhaps Howard takes his ball to TCU if he is 3rd. If Dart loses his spot, maybe he moves on.
I hope Freeze is happy with what he has, it’s too late to find anyone else for the spring. Someone might be able to come in the summer and win the job, but not likely.
My guess is we’re waiting for McCall to graduate in the spring.
You do know there will be another portal open season after spring practices run right? Only downside to not grabbing a portal QB now is deadline to register for classes and go through spring practice was yesterday (1/18). We’ll be fine. (I hope/pray)
That’s exactly what I meant. It’s a lot tougher to show up in the summer and win the job.
FACT – established QB would rather be third string QB with no promises than go to Auburn! ha ha ha
Auburn and Freeze were begging him. But you Auburn fans are so delusional you believe that Auburn never offered Kiffin either.
Thank you for the postings that put a smile on my face!
FACT- Auburn never offered Sanders. His only offer was from Ole Miss.
sure you didn’t.. didn’t offer Kiffin either is that what you believe? maybe if you offer on a non-university cell phone it doesn’t count.
FACT- he was never offered because he was academically ineligible due to a credit issue because he still hasn’t graduated after 5 years at OSU. Auburn doesn’t offer his major so his credits won’t transfer. Ole Miss offers his degree so his credits carry over.
