Stetson Bennett slams radio host for criticizing his parade behavior
Stetson Bennett received some criticism this week for his demeanor during Georgia’s National Championship parade.
Bennett was spotted on his phone throughout the parade, drawing complaints from fans and media alike. Amongst those to call Bennett out was Steak Shapiro, a host on 92.9 The Game in Atlanta.
On Tuesday evening, Bennett, 25, sent out this tweet in response to Shapiro:
cell…?? phone…?? I’m afraid I’m too old to understand the latest technology https://t.co/ZUMiMSlh3N

He followed it up with an “article” explaining why he was on his phone. Bennett said he was controlling the music in the parade car. Bennett also apologized to fans who felt “unappreciated” during the parade:
Full article here- (and I am sorry to the fans who felt unappreciated, that couldn’t be further from the truth. I was just playing some tunes) pic.twitter.com/FmnOcWx0kn

Bennett is moving on from Georgia after leading the Bulldogs to back-to-back National Championships. He spearheaded the first back-to-back national title run in program history.
In this year’s National Championship Game against TCU, Bennett threw for 304 yards and 4 touchdowns. Across all 4 CFP games over the past 2 seasons, Bennett threw for 12 touchdowns and just 1 interception. He cleared 300+ passing yards in 3 of those 4 contests.
These people lame smh.
I guess ole boy was right about the Punk comment! LOL
luvdaride, did you enjoy your meaningless bowl win in New Orleans?
I definitely enjoyed my National Championship beatdown. I know Stetson did, too.
Corchie…
Isn’t it interesting Stetson feels entitled…
25 year old man playing with college kids 18 years old…
Stetson should work at Raising Canes burger joint…
Ooops…
He does!
Lol!
Go Vols!
What are we talking about here? Was he on his cell phone 50% of parade time? 25% of parade time? 10% of parade time? 5% of parade time? The verbiage “throughout the parade” could mean he was on his phone five times for no greater than 30 seconds a call. For a one hour parade, that’s only 4 % of the time. That’s nothing.
100% of the parade time
No, not 100%. Good Lord, some of y’all b u t t hurt Dawgs need to get over yourselves.
The sense of entitlement of some in my fanbase is absolutely ridiculous.
See NOW you finally start to understand.
He definitely hurt his brand
Only for the entitled spoiled children in DawgNation.
The rest of us saw a guy who went out of his way after the final Dawg Walk to take pics with kids and sign their stuff.
What he said on the stage, all of it, was 100% true. If that truth made you uncomfortable it’s because he was talking about YOU.
You want forgiveness and absolution for all the unkind things you said about Stetson Bennett over the last three years, go see a priest. Stetson is under no obligation to give you what you erroneously think you’re owed.
a little background on steak shapiro. his dad funded a radio station, in which shapiro took a time slot. at the first traction of outside investment towards the station, it was woefully managed and misplaced by leadership, of which included shapiro. this radio station ultimately folded. misguided, the rival am sports radio station in atl brought shapiro on, as he was a recognized personality in the area. after a blatant attempt in trying to avoid the ratings and feedback, the new radio station ultimately conceded and terminated shapiro.
now, a relatively new fm radio station has apparently brought shapiro aboard. with this 3rd opportunity, shapiro is simply pulling a ‘shock jock’ move in getting attn.
love bennett. thankful for all of the memories that he was a big part of the last several yrs
That’s got nothing to do with a grown man on his phone ignoring the fans who came out to support the team. Nothing.
Except that’s not what happened, you dumb Gump.
You sure do seem to know everything Corch. Or could it be you are so obsessed with a 25 yr old that you can’t handle someone making negative comments about him? LMAO, what a loser.
Whatever his intentions, he didn’t help himself.
I’ve gotta admit, I was disappointed in Stet Saturday. He seemed oblivious to the fans during most of the parade, dismissive of the media during the Dawg Walk (and the morning after the game), and less-than-endearing with his on-stage remarks. It was a 180-degree difference from what we saw with Jordan Davis last year.
There are precious few places in this country where college fans will turn out by the tens of thousands on consecutive cold, blustery championship days to laud their team. I just don’t get it. Stet was extremely gracious with the fans and media just a few days earlier at his Raisin’ Canes appearance.
It’s history now, and won’t diminish what he’s done for UGA – but it seems like a petulant way to go out.
Repeat from above:

I’m sure he’ll be glad his momma got on here and defended him
Awww, poor Gump.
You BIG MAD, huh?
That’s the funniest s h i t I’ve seen all day tide! Keep up the good work! LMAO
Who cares if he was on his phone? I have no idea of the details… but simply put, if HE wants to overlook the Championship Celebration and miss out on special moments/memories, that’s on him, and should by no means upset or ruin anyone else’s moment.
He just had a teammate die and along with someone else he probably a good bit of interactions with. Why is he currently worried about addressing what someone said on the internet or radio? He is still pretty far removed from having professional mentality when addressing the media. Stet your 25 years old you should be beyond that by now. Refocus the attention on the lives lost over the weekend and not on proving yourself right.
A nothing burger article about a bald-headed, never-was, stuck-in-the-80’s, boomer radio DJ trying to latch onto Bennett’s coattails for 5 mins and guess which of rabble is in full emoting mode
Another day and another gaggle of loser hillbillies camped out on a UGA article and hating on Stetson:
volzdeep22 – Refocus the attention on the lives lost over the weekend and not on proving yourself right.
dvhill100 – Whatever his intentions, he didn’t help himself.
volfanFL – These people lame smh.
gwhite, BootyEngineeringVol, braves1471, fuzzy and the rest of the inbreeds coming up in 3,2,1
I was talking about the radio host you buffoon.
“These people lame smh.”
lol, that was such a concise statement
Talking about the people who were bashing on him too
And ironically, GA is a more hillbilly state than TN.
generally speaking, who’s the better lay – a cousin or a sister?
???
Weirdo
Ask your parents!
He just won those Honey Boo Boos two National Championships in a row. He can do whatever he wants!!
fr
Even if he was dismissive, so? His tenure at Georgia is over and he brought two rings to this University. His obligations ended there.
To me this story about Stetson’s behavior at the parade is a really a non-story. Just something for the sports writers to attract eyeballs now that CFB is over for the year.
After silencing his critics, both home and abroad, Bennett seems begrudged.
I thought it was brilliant coach-speech that hyped up the ‘no respect’ angle before the champ game, but Bennett may have gotten over-sold on that schtick.
Complaining about that imaginary slight at the ceremony was unseemly, especially for a twenty-five year old man who smashed his critics on the field.
His sour grapes were bitter and inappropriate for a such a celebration.
I am crying because Stetson Bennett didn’t look at me during the parade. He’s a mean man and it makes me sad. Get a life Dawg nation!
Lol. I like your response.
