Greg Sankey takes shot at Kevin Warren's NFL departure as 'stop to build a résumé'
Greg Sankey went for blood during Georgia’s championship parade in Athens on Saturday.
Sankey went up to the podium to congratulate the Georgia Bulldogs after their dominating 65-7 win over TCU in the CFP National Championship.
During his speech, Sankey put in an obviously negative remark on former B1G commissioner Kevin Warren, who left to become the team president of the Chicago Bears on Jan. 12.
Sankey spoke of college football and sports needing leaders while slamming Warren:
“We need leaders today in college football and college sports and not leaders who make a stop to build a resume and go on to do something else but those who understand the problems that are real and demand our attention,” he said.

Warren served as the commissioner of the B1G for 3 years. Before becoming the commissioner of the B1G, Warren was previously the chief operating officer for the Minnesota Vikings from 2015 to 2019.
Sankey has been the commissioner of the SEC since 2015 after being the associate commissioner since 2002.
Interesting, to say the least. I don’t think he has much respect for Warren. That’s justified. That guy was all about that guy.
He isn’t wrong. Warren went against a gentlemens agreement that the presidents would act together the c ovid year when he announced the b1g wasn’t going to play. He did big things for the conferences negotiating the new TV deal and adding USC and UCLA. But again was dishonest to the coalition of conferences he helped form by adding them.
Comissioners not presidents.
it’s a fact that most reports the we’ve all read have not painted a pretty picture of Warren. His lone-wolf attempt to stop college football in 2020 was not met with smiles by any fan/player/coach.
In the end, the BIG did a poor job of sizing Warren up for the job. Doesn’t say much for those making the hiring decision. On the other hand, this was a celebration of the Dawgs and their great accomplishment. Weird time for the commish to be going after Warren.
Sanky is a petty and childish little man. The occasion was to honor UGA, not for this baby to whine about a rival.
