3-peat? Fans point to Georgia's tame 2023 schedule, predict another title run
People already looking ahead to next season can’t help but notice Georgia’s shockingly tame 2023 schedule. Is it too early to be thinking 3-peat?
Maybe so, but they aren’t too far off from a initial point of view. The Bulldogs’ toughest test based on this season’s performance so far is Tennessee at the end of the year. The Vols and South Carolina Gamecocks are the only teams currently ranked in the top 25 on Georgia’s 2023 schedule and Tennessee is the only team with less than 5 losses this season. The Bulldogs’ non-conference matchups are UT Martin, Ball State, UAB and, as always, Georgia Tech.
For reference, here’s what we’re talking about.

Fans took to social media to point this out Monday night into Tuesday morning following Georgia’s dominant 65-7 win over the vastly outmatched TCU Horned Frogs.

Georgia is legit gonna have an easy shot to 3 peat lol their schedule is soft as charming next year. 11 of their 12 opponents lost 5+ games this season lol

Georgia has a good chance to 3-peat. They bring back a lot of guys next year & schedule is much easier than this year. Toughest game @ UT at the end of the year.

Boy Georgia has to run that SEC GAUNTLET next year. The patriots would go 8-5 with this schedule. It just means more. https://t.co/yvh44F5Zfo

Been thinking a lot about what a win for #Georgia against #TCU in the #NationalChampionship would mean for the landscape of college football. Then I looked at the 2023 schedule for Georgia. This is the conclusion I came to… pic.twitter.com/SRYTpE9hky

Things in CFB are never as easy or linear as they appear. But UGA’s schedule next season certainly appears favorable right now. My guess is that Auburn and Florida are tougher next year, Ole Miss and Tennessee will still be dangerous, and a few other teams will be ready to give UGA their best shot.
Other than beating lousy Auburn, Kentucky & A&M what did oM do this year? Expect more of the same in 2023.
Isn’t it interesting that Georgia will NOT repeat next year…
Go Vols!
A number of you Vols fans sure are an interesting bunch
Keep in mind, Oklahoma cancelled (or due to Oklahoma joining the SEC soon) their game with UGA in 2023 so UGA had to scramble to fill that spot with someone.
Thank you. Little facts like that are irrelevant to the dumb masses.
replaced with a cupcake of course.
If you are going to call UGA out for scheduling Ball State in the calendar opening left by the Oklahoma cancellation, maybe you could also point out what more suitable opponent happens to have an opening in their schedule that week, that is willing to take that spot.
How do you schedule a P5 team on such short notice? Every other program of consequence already has their full slate for 2023 in place. It just can’t be done. And there’s not exactly a line of P5 programs eager to play UGA right now.
The problem is the SEC pulled the plug on the Oklahoma contract when all the other power five schools have their schedules set. OU scrambled and got a game with SMU, UGA got a game with Ball State. Who knows if UGA could have gotten a better opponent than Ball State on short notice.
If I’m a UGA season ticket holder, it’s still fun to have 7 home games, so there is that positive.
LSU or Bama is likely the teams to possibly knock off UGA in the SEC championship game. Or Tennessee in Knoxville possibly.
Tennessee is the only opponent on the schedule that has a shot of beating georgia. Not even alabama next year (i don’t think) will have a chance of beating them.
Alabama has no shot? Interesting.
Both LSU and Bama has a good shot to knock UGA down. Why not?
Next year’s schedule is soft. It is great for Georgia because they can get to Atlanta relatively injury free and they have the prestige of winning two straight NCs. Nobody will question if they’re good despite playing no one next year.
Clean living. They’re going to be told they cannot lose again ever too. But that is a good problem to have.
I expect South Carolina to play hard and Ole Miss is a bit of a wild card, but those are both in Athens. Auburn at Jordan-Hare could be interesting, but there’s know way to know right now what they’ll be like at the end of September. Napier still has too much to fix in Gainesville to have me terribly worried about the Cocktail Party. UT in Knoxville looks like the biggest challenge on the schedule at this time. We’ll see how things pan out, but overall it doesn’t look like there are a lot of major threats during the regular season.
I doubt any of this talk would be happening if Sankey hadn’t cancelled the OU game. Bad call on his part.
Weak schedule. Most any P5 team would love to have it. TN is probably the only real threat opponent except for UGA themselves. Have a Kent St type performance against any SEC team and the outcome might be different. 3peat? There’s a ton of ifs between then and now including another possible shot from OhSt in a playoff.
