Kirby Smart talks Georgia and the transfer portal
Georgia pulled off what many thought the Bulldogs could not on Monday, recording 2 consecutive national championship victories with a 65-7 win over the TCU Horned Frogs just a single year after defeating Alabama in the title game.
And much of Georgia’s success has not only to do with what head coach Kirby Smart brings to the program, but also the fact that several of the team’s players who could have transferred chose to stay and try to bring another title to the team.
“Kirby Smart said that ‘several guys’ told him they were going to go in the transfer portal, but stuck it out to try to help UGA win another national title,” Marc Weiszer of the Athens Banner-Herald wrote.
“That makes me want to cry,” Smart said.

Smart also said after the game that he’s already thinking about next season as Georgia has the chance to go three-peat in 2023.
We know that Amarius Mims went into the portal, but decided to stay at Georgia. He played a big role after McLendon went down and should likely be the starting left tackle next year.
Several of the players that might hit the portal probably saw the field last night and are going to leave UGA for reasons other than playing time. UGA recruits nationally and sometimes these guys want to go home or they may have opportunities to make money for themselves and their families at other institutions. Whatever the reason, I’m glad to see UGA has the institutional control to have these things not become a distraction during the season.
Isn’t it interesting that Stetson Bennett at 25 years old should not be playing against 18 year olds…
Leave college and go get a job at the rec center old man.
Georgia fans look like the characters in the movie “Deliverance”.
Oooops… true!
Lol!
How old is Hendon Hooker?
Uh…
23?
At around the age that a lo of people leave from college?
You tried.

He will be 25 1/13/23. This Florida voltard is an absolute idiot.
Cmon man, do better! Tell us about the Tennessee River one more time before you slink away for the next eight months to be disappointed by the Hobobilly basketball & baseball squads.

By that logic, Hooker shouldn’t have been allowed to play this year either since the two’s birthdays are only 2 months apart?
CKS has done a tremendous job getting players to buy into the program
