Nick Saban has incredible reaction to David Pollack's insistance of power shift in CFB
Nick Saban had a priceless reaction to David Pollack’s comment about Georgia football’s recent success and the apparent power shift in college football Monday night.
The legendary head coach joined the ESPN broadcast and sat right next to David Pollack when he dropped what everybody already knew; Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs have officially taken the baton from the Crimson Tide. The Bulldogs are repeat champions for the first time in the CFP era and did so while losing a boatload of NFL talent from last year’s championship squad. Not to mention, Georgia only added 1 player in the transfer portal for this year’s team.
You can see the moment all this hits Saban, too.

Alabama was in Georgia’s shoes for the better part of the last decade. The Crimson Tide have won 3 titles since 2015, dancing with Clemson for ultimate control of the college football landscape across the last 7 or 8 years until Georgia entered the mix.
But, even with Alabama missing the CFP this season, it feels like Saban and Co. aren’t done winning championships quite yet.
Not wise to kick dirt in the man’s face. I would have loved to see what was said during the commercial break after that comment.
I,think he said- thanks. I always need stuff for the bulletin board.
First and foremost…Pollock is a Dawg & obviously has to feel this way. But it was in poor taste to say it as the GOAT himself is sitting right beside you. Pollock speaks before his brain is engaged sometimes.
I think more TV analysts need to say what they actually think. Too many are told what to say and just act like parrots. How are we supposed to figure out which analysts are worth listening to if they are not allowed to reveal how dumb so many of them are?
The greatest 2 year run in the history of college football! Go Dawgs!
Two straight undefeated seasons, crushed everyone. Good job.
It was a great accomplishment- no doubt. But is wasnt back to back undefeated seasons. Georgia lost the SEC championship to Bama last year.
Hmm… that’s true…
I seem to remember Georgia losing to Alabama in the SEC championship game last year.
Bama had a mass exodus to the portal and has been relying on the portal. Georgia keeps their kids there. There is undeniably a power shift.
Bud Wilkinson would like a word. That win streak is sick.
I didnt see a reaction other than a very slight nod…. was no reaction the reaction ?
Kudos to Nick Saban, for the time being he is the GOAT and a great guy
And now, the end is near
And so I face the final curtain
My friend, I’ll say it clear
I’ll state my case, of which I’m certain
I’ve lived a life that’s full
I traveled each and every highway
And more, much more than this
I did it my way
Regrets, I’ve had a few
But then again, too few to mention
I did what I had to do
And saw it through without exemption
I planned each charted course
Each careful step along the byway
And more, much more than this
I did it my way
Yes, there were times, I’m sure you knew
When I bit off more than I could chew
But through it all, when there was doubt
I ate it up and spit it out
I faced it all, and I stood tall
And did it my way
I’ve loved, I’ve laughed and cried
I’ve had my fill, my share of losing
And now, as tears subside
I find it all so amusing
To think I did all that
And may I say, not in a shy way
Oh, no, oh, no, not me
I did it my way
For what is a man, what has he got?
If not himself, then he has naught
To say the things he truly feels
And not the words of one who kneels
The record shows I took the blows
And did it my way
Yes, it was my way
A Frank Sinatra fan huh.
I still have a feeling that Nick will get one more before he calls it quits. Kirby will have quite a lot to say about that, though. The Deathstar everyone was talking about being built in Athens a few years ago is now powered up and all systems are nominal.
If there is a specific metric that Saban’s looking to hit, I’d guess it’s one or both of the following:
— One more natty at Bama so that he has more at Bama than Bryant does
— Enough wins to beat Bryant’s total win record at Bama.
Red leader may have a say. Lol.
Over 20 players lost from last years championship team, with not one transfer portal addition to this years championship team. I’d would say Georgia has toppled Alabama as the best team in college football today.
Then it’s definitely true. You have spoken.
Dude you a bandwagoner! When Georgia wins 5 more Nattys then talk you hypocritical ? clown when Alabama wins it next year you will be speaking a different tune. I can’t deal with you hateful Bama sports writers the rest of the year. I’m going to Jamaica relax this yr and let all you hateful Bama folks bask in glory the rest of the year after today I promise I won’t read another article of you haters and I will fire back up for this incredible season to come from Bama . Duces
There’s only one person Coach Saban can blame for Georgia’s success…HIMSELF.
There is only one person Kirby can blame his luck on and copying and stealing a blueprint from is Saban. Originals last not copies. Facts
Roll Tide
Saban isn’t done winning national championships. My guess is he wins another 1-2 before he retires.
Well done Georgia! Looking forward to next year.
I don’t think Nick Saban is gonna lay down that easy. Alabama will be back in the hunt next year.
Alabama will be sniffing for another one in 2023. So will LSU. So will UGA.
Those would be my to 3 teams that would have the best chance to nab any one of the 4 spots….along with USC, Michigan, FSU.
LSU got blasted by Georgia. Not in the same stratosphere.
By 20 in 2022. You think LSU is worse in 2023? Not likely. They’ll be at the top of the West…them or Bama. Either one stands a pretty decent chance to unseat UGA.
Yes. I think y’all are worse next year.
And that game was not as close as the score.
Geaux…you typed FSU ? Florida State ? What ya smoking ?
By the way, congratulations to the Dawgs!! Well-deserved and earned.
Looking forward to LSU hopefully knocking you off the perch the 2023 season! Kelly wants what Smart has done twice now…. should be 3.
Well if Pollack said it, then it’s definitely true…. no one will defeat UGa ever again. Ok
Congrats to UGA. They deserve it. Just remember this, you are never as great or bad as you think you are. College football has a way of humbling great teams and it always takes great skill/coaching and some luck to win it all. All of Saban’s 6 Championship teams got some bounces except 2020 (that team wasn’t challenged) that helped them win it. They also had bounces that prevented them from possibly winning it a few years. UGA had a great shot in 2012, 2017 & 2018 but it didn’t happen. They then got a break in 2021 with Injuries to Metchie and Williamson. Again this year with OSU kicker. I know they have a bunch coming back next year but the odds are against a three-peat. Good luck though.
Except by a global pandemic… the culture of that team was phenomenal.
Georgia has great team. Repeats less challenging playing in SEC East, similar to Clemson in ACC.
Correct. Except look how Clemson fared. UGA shouldn’t spend all their time patting themselves on the back. Take a bow and get back to work.
Which seems to be Kirby’s mentality listening to him talk.
Dabo got fat-n-happy and eased off in his personal role in recruiting & it began to show a couple years ago. Last year he lost both the OC, Tony Elliott & a great DC, Brent Venables plus assorted off the field staff went with the departed OC & DC. They have a lot of work to get to even get in the Playoffs again.
Three national championships in 41 years. Congrats.
You have to feel sorry for all the suckers you bet money that TCU would cover the spread. Did the committee really put the best 4 teams in ? Doesn’t look like.
Looked like it until the final game. TCU beat the great Michigan, OSU had the all powerful UGA on the ropes all night…not sure how any committee could have put together a better 4 teams.
Really, both KState and TCU in the final four would have been better football than having a big 10 in there and you can’t tell me that the ACC and PAC should have been snubbed so we could see the no longer top 20 material of the Big 10.
One thing I notice about all this is the similarity between UGA and OSU bragging about being undefeated during seasons that often have no ranked opponents to speak of. UGA had two during the regular season in 2022, met a wounded LSU in The SEC title game, then had OSU beat themselves in the playoff semi. A dynasty ?, not yet in my book.
David get your facts straight. Georgia beat 4 ranked teams this year – #15 Oregon, #23 South Carolina, #6 Tennessee, #20 MS State. Those were in the regular season. Then of course #16 LSU in the SECCG, #4 OSU in the CFP, and #2 TCU in the Natty. And a wounded LSU? You think Georgia didn’t have injuries? It’s funny how Bama fans downplay what Georgia has accomplished, but when the shoe is on the other foot it’s all about how great Bama is. Give credit where it is due, otherwise STFU. It makes you sound like a stupid crybaby redneck.
@David Winning back to back titles in CFB is considered a dynasty. Also, this “OSU beat themselves” stuff needs to stop. How many lucky breaks has Bama had in the last 15 years to be where they are now? Countless in my opinion. Such a weak argument. History remembers the score.
Teams that have done it since 1970:
– Smart’s Dawgs
– Saban’s Bama
– Pete Carroll USC
– Tom Osbourne Nebraska
– Bear Bryant’s Bama (co-champs one year)
– Bob Devaney Nebraska (co-champs one year)
We can argue dynasty, not dynasty all day. But your tone in your comment is very dismissive of what UGA achieved. UGA is a 2nd and 26 stop away from being a 3-time champ in 5 years, and eerily similar to Bama 2009-2014.
The word “Dynasty” in any sport implies multi-years of great teams that are always in the hunt for a Natty. John Wooden’s time at UCLA, Bear Bryant at Alabama, Dean Smith at UNC, Coach K at Duke, Pete Carroll at Southern Cal plus a few others listed above by EKingGill. Kirby sure is trending in the right direction toward creating a dynasty, but it is not a dynasty at this point in time. But I am glad the Dawgs won it all.
No disrespect to UGA, they’re a great team and worthy of praise, but if they think Saban is just going to roll over and play dead they’ve got a rude awakening coming.
Every sane UGA fan knows that Bama is still a beast. Next year it easily could be Bama winning the natty and it will be like that until Saban retires.
But Bama fans have to admit they are no longer the only Belle at the ball.
Thank you for your honesty and fair assessment. Iron sharpens iron. Champions need legitimate foes!
David Pollack literally looks like a smaller version of Herman the monster. David has been so extremely jealous of Alabama from day one. it literally ate his soul to have to admit for all those years Alabama was great. This chump is classless and for him to do Saban like that was a low blow. Saban didn’t even have to subject himself to this panel but Saban is a better human being then that and that’s what makes him great. Saban created his own greatness Kirby copied it literally and that’s cool. Kirby is not great on his own but you have to give the man credit for taking what he learned from Saban and using it. I believe Saban has a little more meanness left inside of him and what Pollock said might just be what Alabama needed!! You have to be careful in winning and how you accept it. It will be so ironic next year and Pollock has broadcast Alabama winning the national championship but we will let him and his other hateful buddy weasel squirrel looking Paul finebaum have their day. It’s going to be a very long off season for the Alabama faithful day by day having to listen to the hating talking heads about Alabama. If any Alabama football player read my post please let all of this motivate you to go ahead and win it for Saban and yourselves next year. I’m about to shut it down for a few months reading anything else concerning my team I’m not about to get upset listening to this BS everyday! I know the Alabama players will go into the fourth quarter program this year with extra passion. I know these Alabama players will be extremely motivated through spring practice summer workouts and fall practice and I know Alabama has a coach is probably seething on the inside from how he was unnecessarily humiliated on national TV. If Saban and Alabama responds justifiably and appropriately next year it’s going to be a long season for the rest of college football trust me!
Roll Tide
Gotta be a troll.
How can I troll on a Bama page as a Bama fan???? STFU ? clown!! Texas A&M can’t even win 9 games with a number 1 paid class that half of those guys have defected now because Y’all couldn’t give them the promised money and they play for a scumbag coach who refuses to adapt. Now who is the troll?? Go back to your own uninteresting page Saturday Down South Texas A&Chumps
Troll.
When Kirby Smart and Georgia have won as many National Championships as Nick Saban and Alabama has, then they can talk!
