Unbelievable stat puts Joe Milton III's arm talent into perspective
Joe Milton III will start in Tennessee’s season finale against Vanderbilt.
The former Michigan quarterback started last season before an injury against Pitt gave Hendon Hooker the starting nod. We all know what happened after that. Hooker was one of the best stories in college football this year, but unfortunately saw his season cut short when he tore his ACL in last Saturday’s loss to South Carolina.
And so Milton will make his first start in a Tennessee uniform since last season. But it’s not like Tennessee fans should fear the worst – Milton has been showing he can sling it all year.
His accuracy and touch has improved considerably since last season after worries his overthrows would define him for the remainder of his college career. Tennessee writer Patrick Brown pointed out an unbelievable stat that puts Milton’s insane arm talent into perspective.
I am not making this up … Joe Milton III, the backup now set to start for the #Vols, has more pass plays of 50+ yards (five) this season than all but three SEC QBs (Hendon Hooker, Jaxson Dart, Will Levis) and 18 FBS QBs — on just 33 pass attempts. ???

Milton can throw a football nearly 70 yards flat-footed. There’s not many players in the nation that can say that.
Tennessee takes on Vanderbilt Saturday at 7:30 p.m. EST looking to reach 10 wins for the first time since 2007.
