Hugh Freeze will be the new Auburn head coach. QB1 on The Plains appears to be excited by the big news.

Auburn QB Robby Ashford was quick to welcome his new head coach via social media on Monday.

“Welcome to the Plains, let’s get to work we’ve got unfinished business to handle,” Ashford wrote, tagging Freeze and closing the note with an eagle emoji and War Eagle hashtag.

Ashford has plenty to be excited about. Freeze helped turn Malik Willis, a former Auburn reserve who transferred out, into a 3rd-round NFL Draft pick. After sitting out a season due to NCAA transfer rules, Willis threw for over 5,000 yards and rushed for more than 1,800 yards in 2 seasons playing for Freeze’s Liberty program.

This season, Ashford was 123-of-250 (49.2% complete) for 1,613 yards, 7 touchdowns and 7 interceptions in 12 games. Ashford ran 153 times for 709 yards and 7 touchdowns.
