Jalen Carter officially announces intention to enter 2023 NFL Draft
Jalen Carter confirmed what everyone already knew early Tuesday morning. Georgia’s star defensive lineman went out on top and will be heading to the NFL Draft, he announced on Twitter.
Carter is considered to be the top defensive lineman available in the 2023 Draft and is thought to be a surefire top 5 pick. Across his 3 years in Athens, Carter won 2 championships and earned multiple SEC honors. He was also a finalist for the Rotary Lombardi Award, given to the country’s top lineman.
He finished the 2022 season with 32 tackles, 3 sacks, 7 tackles for loss and 2 forced fumbles despite missing a pair of games for the 15-0 Bulldogs.

Carter has officially joined Kelee Ringo as defensive players to officially declare, though they are sure to not be the last. The 6-foot-3, 300 pound junior will be forgoing his senior season in the process, but his draft stock will never be higher (and really, can’t be higher) than it is right now.
Winning 2 national titles isn’t a bad way to go out, either.
Another #1 pick would be icing on the cake. Not sure that’s ever been done.
DGD! Thanks for the hard work and memories! Much respect to you and best wishes in the NFL!

Now the cascade of declarations should come in.
Ringo? Tykee? Darnell ? K Mac? Nolan?
Thanks for the memories Jalen.
Best of luck going forward.
