Former Kentucky offensive coordinator Liam Coen is headed back to Lexington to serve his second stint with the team, as the Wildcats announced Tuesday.

Coen most recently served as the Los Angeles Rams offensive coordinator after he was previously at Kentucky in 2021. NFL insider Chris Mortensen originally broke the news and Kentucky football made the return official Tuesday.

“I’m very excited to welcome Liam and his family back to Kentucky,” coach Mark Stoops said in a press release. “It was evident that he made a dramatic impact in the one season he was with our team. He brings a great deal of knowledge, and he also brings an excitement that players and recruits can relate to.”

This is a big gain for Kentucky, which will look to get back on its feet after a disappointing 2022 season in which it fell short of the expectations with a 7-6 overall record.
