Zach Arnett reportedly targeting SEC veteran OC, OL coach for Mississippi State staff
Mississippi State is on the verge of adding two offensive coaches to Zach Arnett’s staff.
John Brice at Football Scoop reports that the Bulldogs are in the process of adding Will Friend as the offensive line coach and bringing in Mike Bobo to be the new offensive coordinator.
Friend, who was Auburn’s offensive line coach in 2021 and 2022, had reportedly agreed to coach at Memphis earlier this year. But many reports, including Brice’s, suggest that he will instead head to Starkville.
Bobo, a former quarterback for Georgia in the 1990s, spent 14 seasons with his alma mater as a quarterbacks coach and offensive coordinator under Mark Richt. He was a head coach at Colorado State, going 26-35 in five seasons. Bobo has also had stops at South Carolina and Auburn before heading back to Georgia as analyst this past season.
Excited about these moves Mississippi State fans?
Leave….Bobo….alone. He is being groomed by Todd.
We’ll only steal him back when Monken is offered a large $$$ HBC job in the near future…
Don’t know about friend, but bobo could be interesting
Nah, I’m good. I didn’t bite on Briles, I’m not biting on this either.
You’ll end up hating anyone like you hated Leach.
That dry wit is why I married you.
I wouldn’t marry a tra n ny like you little girl.
Oh babe, you’re always kidding around.
You must be big mad because I’m the only MSU grad that responds to you? Am I right? Lib rat.
Our love is just that deep, hubby.
Bobo probably thinking he will be next HC there after Arnett.
Lmao no people……incorrect. The fan base is voicing its distaste for that hire. Doesn’t make a lick of sense with the personnel. Please don’t put false information out there. SDS is pathetic
Yeah, hard pass.
Yeah, soft head.
It’s never soft for you, hun ;)
That’s because you have a vuh jay Jay darling
Mmmm just for you, daddy ;)
I wasn’t crazy about Will Friend when Harsin hired him and he only raised more questions at Auburn. Friend had an O-line coach’s dream at Tennessee. He had 4 5-stars on his line there and couldn’t develop them or get consistency of any kind. I think he is incredibly overrated and have since he was at Tennessee.
Agreed smoke
I would not want him as o line coach
Yeah this hire is head scratchingly bad. I don’t get it at all.
Numbnutts, are you on this site 24/7? Has Walmart cut back your hours?
I live in your walls
This is confirmed as incorrect now.
The Bobo part I mean, obviously.
Okay bozo.
Tell our daughter to bring me a glass of water please, babe.
Gotta say, coozie, some hilarious posts
I’d leave Bobo alone!! I actually think he did a good job calling plays at UGA. I’m not sure what happened to him after that. I admit that I didn’t watch a lot of Colorado State games, the few I saw were unimpressive. He was awful coaching the Gamecocks. I have to admit his run game scheme was effective. The passing game was very uninspired and his play calling was baffling at times. If Mississippi state wants to run the ball 50-60 times a game Bobo might be an OK hire. However this team is built for the air raid offense and I hope they intend to keep it or slowly transition away. Regardless of what you think of Bobo as a coach you’d have to admit he’s not the guy for this personnel group or presumed scheme.
Who knows. As much as I’d love to see Rogers play his senior year here, that’s no guarantee. Zavion Thomas leaving the portal seems to indicate there’s some optimism for a consistent passing game, but then targeting Bobo makes me wonder. Maybe Arnett’s idea is to leave the pass play calling in Roger’s hands and bring in someone specifically for the run game?
I think our problem is there’s no one available. We’ve got the makings of a great offense – consistent passing game and some great (tough) RB’s. Bad timing with Briles. If KJ declared for the draft this year, we may have been able to get Briles.
I’m here for the entertainment
