Mississippi State has landed a key player from the transfer portal, bringing a former top Mississippi recruit home.

Just 1 day after Khamauri Rogers entered the portal following his 2022 season spent at the University of Miami, the Madison, Mississippi, product announced on Twitter that he was heading to Starkville to play at Mississippi State.

The true freshman was the 16th overall prospect to transfer from Miami and the 8th defensive back.

Rogers was a consensus 4-star prospect and was the 9th-ranked cornerback from the 2022 class.

He picked UM over Florida State, as well as SEC schools Florida, Georgia and LSU.

Rogers didn’t see much action as a freshman, only appearing in the season opener. He registered 1 tackle.

He was 1 of a few players whose parents would make comments on social media about how frustrated they were about Rogers’ lack of playing time. But Rogers would’ve had a shot to rotate next season for the Hurricanes considering how thin their cornerback room is now following departures for the NFL Draft and the transfer portal.

Instead, Rogers is heading to Starkville, back to his very familiar home state.
