Kendal Briles, Arkansas OC, makes decision on future with Razorbacks
Kendal Briles will stay on the Arkansas staff in 2023.
The Razorbacks’ offensive coordinator has been in Fayetteville since 2020, following a season each at Florida Atlantic, Houston, and Florida State and, before that, 9 seasons at Baylor with his father, Art Briles. But Zach Arnett and Mississippi State had been after the 40-year-old to take the same position in Starkville.
However, Briles will instead remain with the Razorbacks. He posted a tweet on Thursday evening announcing his decision:
Looking forward to 2023 with @kj_jefferson2 ‼️ #Runitback @RazorbackFB pic.twitter.com/7oXScOIfDV

According to insider Steve Robertson, who first reported the decision, Briles is in line for a raise as he will “sign a contract extension with a nice bump in pay”.
Under Briles, Arkansas was 6th in the SEC in total offense in 2022 and boasted the league’s 2nd-best rushing attack (236.54 yards per game). KJ Jefferson passed for 2,676 yards in 2021 — a top-10 total in the team’s record books — and was the team’s leading rusher with 664 yards. He accounted for 27 touchdowns, 21 of those coming through the air. In 2022, he threw for 2,648 yards and 24 touchdowns while running for 640 yards and 9 scores, but was limited by injury and wasn’t quite able to take the next step in his development as a result.
On Dec. 2, Jefferson announced he would return to the program in 2023, which is great news for both Briles and Razorback fans.
I would not mind seeing him replace BoB, if he leaves.
Who?
Bill O’Brien.
Glad to see Coach Briles is staying, just wondering when the Razorbacks is going to get a few studs, both sides of ball from the transfer pool. It’s getting boring hearing about the rich getting richer.
Glad to hear he is staying one more year. Be this KJs last year I look for him to jump at a HC opportunity if the right one comes along.
Glad to have him stay, now if he’d just stop killing drives with poorly timed gimmick plays.
I may be guilty of forgetting his flaws, but I remember liking Dan Enos better than KB. Enos is likely the best QB coach we’ve had in decades and didn’t have the poorly timed trick plays that killed drives. I’m convinced that no other QB Coach would have been able to help the Allen brothers produce that well!
I guess He’s chasing that championship! Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha. lol
Very pleased to see KB stay another year. The manner in which KJ Jefferson has developed is remarkable. Most OCs will call a few bad plays, but the body of work on Briles speaks for itself.
Woo Pig.
