Austin Williams, Mississippi State WR, pens thank-you letter to Bulldogs community
Austin Williams has been with the Mississippi State football team for 6 seasons. The Pascagoula, Miss. native signed with the program in the 2017 season during Dan Mullen’s tenure, remaining after the Bulldogs transitioned to Joe Moorhead and then to the late Mike Leach. His collegiate career ended with a win in Monday’s ReliaQuest Bowl against Illinois, the Bulldogs’ 1st game under Zach Arnett.
On Thursday, Williams posted a thank-you to Bulldogs fans, teammates, and the entire Starkville community.
“I’m blessed and thankful for the last 6 years in Starkville, and I’m forever grateful for everyone who made it such an incredible experience,” he wrote. “All of the family, teammates, coaches, trainers, EQ (equipment managers), admin, fans, friends, and countless others… I’ll cherish these times for the rest of my life.”
Williams totaled 150 catches for 1,536 yards and 17 touchdowns during his career. In 2021, he set career bests in receptions (52) and yards (617). His 5 touchdowns in 2022 were a career-high.
In the ReliaQuest Bowl, he made 2 catches for 22 yards.

Clutch receiver and classy guy who also carried a 4.0 GPA while earning two degrees at MSU. (He’s working on his third.)
One of our best!
Thanks, Austin!
He never had eye-poppin stats, but he was my favorite receiver. If you forget the muffed punt in last year’s lsu game, there was no other person who could consistently be founted on for a first down
The guy started his sixth season with a career 0.9% drop rate. He’s dropped two punts in six years (I think). R E L I A B L E. Gonna miss him. I still think he could get a cup of coffee in the nfl, but he might not even go for it.
This!
Prime example of a student-athlete!
Absolutely!
He’s on the All-time Character team at State.
Real class act. I remember getting extremely frustrated during the Moorhead tenure because I thought Williams was grossly underutilized. He could probably get some solid NFL looks with really hard work and a couple of seasons in Canada or something. In any case, he’ll succeed at whatever he puts his hands to.
No doubt.
He will be missed. I wish him the best.
I just commented to my wife during the bowl game that it seemed like Austin had been at State forever lol. I’m going to miss him for sure.
Thank you, Austin. A true class act. It’s too bad that he isn’t able to play a season under new WR coach Chad Bumphis.
Definition of ole reliable. Absolutely going to miss seeing him on the field.
He’s not going to miss that picture of you in your band outfit that you used to use as your avatar/logo.
Why don’t you bring it back?
I know you liked that pic, it’s why you asked me out in the first place. So romantic.
Nope you’re too tra ns for me. I knew you’d answer soon since your Uber eats has slowed down since you’ve been reported sticking your fingers in the food after sticking them elsewhere.
Only thing I stick my fingers in is you, hubby ;)
