Mississippi State landed JJ Jernighan from the JUCO ranks as part of their 2020 recruiting class. He redshirted that season, but has been a part of the offense in 2021 and 2022.

In 2021, Jernighan appeared in all 13 games, running 6 times for 24 yards and making 12 catches for 84 yards while also contributing on special teams. In 2022, he appeared in 4 games, running 7 times for 31 yards and adding 4 catches for 17 yards and a touchdown.

Ahead of his final year of eligibility, Jernighan took to Twitter on Wednesday to announce he was entering his name into the NCAA transfer portal:

Jernighan played for Copiah-Lincoln Community College in 2018 and 2019 before making the jump to Mississippi State.

Where he ends up next remains to be seen, but it would appear his final year of college football will be played somewhere other than Starkville.
