Dan Mullen includes 3 SEC games in Week 5 picks, including one upset
Dan Mullen on Wednesday released his picks for some key Week 5 college football matchups. The former Florida and Mississippi State head coach, currently an analyst with ESPN, has 3 SEC games among his slate of predictions this time around.
Bulldogs fans will be happy to know that Mullen has Mississippi State pulling an upset in Starkville against No. 17 Texas A&M to improve to 4-1 on the season. Mike Leach’s team opened the season with wins over Memphis and Arizona before losing to LSU to begin SEC play, but bounced back by beating Bowling Green in Week 4.
Elsewhere, Mullen has No. 7 Kentucky over No. 14 Ole Miss in Oxford. The Rebels have won the last 2 meetings between the 2 teams, with the cross-conference foes last meeting in 2020. They needed an overtime field goal to beat the Wildcats 42-41 for Lane Kiffin’s 1st victory at the helm of the program.
As for No. 2 Alabama vs. No. 20 Arkansas, Mullen has the Crimson Tide leaving Fayetteville with their 15th straight win in the series. Last year’s meeting saw Bryce Young break the program record for passing yards in a single game as the Tide claimed a 42-35 triumph in Tuscaloosa.
