Jalen Hurts draws high praise from Eagles coach for playing through injury: 'It's like having Michael Jordan out there'
Jalen Hurts played through injury to turn in a stellar performance in Saturday’s NFC Divisional Playoff game between the Philadelphia Eagles and New York Giants. Eagles coach Nick Sirianni went as far as calling it Michael Jordan-like.
Sirianni knew he should avoid saying “Michael Jordan,” but couldn’t help himself when describing what Hurts’ return to action meant to the team on Saturday night.
“I know this is high praise, but to have him out there is like having — I shouldn’t even go there — it’s like having Michael Jordan out there,” Sirianni said after the Eagles’ 38-7 win, per ESPN. “He’s your leader. He’s your guy.
“Hopefully, that’s the biggest respect I can pay to him, comparing his ability to being on the field to a Michael Jordan type. This guy leads. He brings this calmness to the entire team. He plays great football. He’s as tough as they come. To me, nobody has played any better football than him this year.”
Hurts sprained a join in his throwing shoulder on Dec. 18. While he’s described as not being close to 100 percent, Hurts still threw for 154 yards and 2 touchdowns, while adding a rushing score in Philadelphia’s blowout win. As Sirianni said, Hurts’ leadership may have mattered more than what showed up in the box score.
When many sports fans think of Jordan, the Bulls legend’s 6 NBA championship rings immediately come to mind. Hurts is seeking his first professional championship with the Eagles. He can get that first Super Bowl ring with 2 more wins.
Where’s Negan saying so long diatribe about how the Giants were robbed by the refs rather than Hurts leading his team to victory?
Yall ran Hurts out of town. He’s all Oklahoma Sooner now.
He stayed until he graduated from Bama. Tua led the NFL in efficiency this year until his injury. Jalen could have left the year before if he had wanted to. I really enjoy seeing how Bama obsession has control of you.
Jalen Hurts has always shown himself with class and a strong desire to achieve success in football. A great player and an even better person.
