Now that Georgia has captured back-to-back national championships, the next goal is a 3-peat. Former Georgia head coach Mark Richt is confident the Bulldogs are up for the task.

During a radio appearance on Sirius XM, Richt touted the merits of his former program and emphasized that continuity is why he has faith in Kirby Smart’s club.

“The thing that Georgia’s got now and similar to what we had at Florida State, we had kids that would stay and be a little patient,” Richt said.

As a newly inducted member into the College Football Hall of Fame, the 62-year-old Richt’s opinion carries credentialed weight. As Georgia’s coach from 2001-15, Richt captured the SEC title 2 times(2002, 2005) and the SEC East on 5 occassions (2002, 2003, 2005, 2011, 2012). Richt was selected as SEC Coach of the Year in 2002 and 2005.

Georgia finished off an undefeated 15-0 campaign with a historic 65-7 rout vs. TCU in the national championship game. Georgia has only lost 1 game in the last 2 seasons and 5 games since 2019.

In addition to talented returning players, the future is bright as Georgia has the nation’s No. 2 recruiting group for the Class of 2023 according to 247Sports.
