Georgia sees veteran defender enter NCAA transfer portal
Georgia edge rusher MJ Sherman has entered the transfer portal, as Seth Emerson of The Athletic reported on Friday afternoon.
Georgia edge rusher MJ Sherman is also in the transfer portal. A former top 50 recruit who has struggled to get on the field the past three years. Native of Maryland.

The former 4-star recruit has yet to find a place within the starting lineup but did serve as an emotional figure for the Bulldogs as they worked their way to a national championship. With his departure, he becomes the 8th Georgia player to depart from the team coming off of a second consecutive title game win.
Transfer portal declarations include defensive lineman Bill Norton, tight end Arik Gilbert, tight end Brett Seither, defensive back Jaheim Singletary, tight end Rylan Goedge, linebacker Trezmen Marshall and offensive lineman Jacob Hood.
I think he wanted to stay and his mom went as far as to say he wasn’t going anywhere. I think it was clear when he didn’t see the field even after Nolan went down and Chaz Chambliss struggled and was injured and Bobby Beal spent time injured, that this staff just didn’t have a place for him anymore. I don’t think he’s been the same since his injury in HS.
This one hurts a little bit, I really liked Sherman’s exuberance and energy. I thought he had a decent shot at cracking the lineup this coing season. Best wishes MJ wherever you land.
That stinks, I thought he would become a big contributer.
Beal was a top 50 recruit that had a bad knee unjustly at the end of his senior season. It really slowed him down and he was never as quick as he was pre-injury. He didn’t medically disqualify but it did greatly affect his play. Good luck to him wherever he goes. I bet Maryland could use him.
I’m not going to pretend to know UGA’s roster make-up, but it looks like they have 29 guys coming in with signees/transfers. That means some guys have to leave to get down to 85 scholarships. Some need to be told that they’re not in the team’s future plans and they should seek playing time elsewhere.
