Tre’Vez Johnson, former Florida DB, announces SEC commitment
Tre’Vez Johnson has found a new home, and the former Florida defensive back is staying in the SEC East.
Johnson committed to Missouri on Sunday night, he announced on social media. Missouri coach Eli Drinkwitz wrote on Twitter on Sunday evening, “the TIGERS are gonna hit the daily double.”
The Jacksonville native appeared in 34 games over the last 3 seasons at Florida and made 16 starts. During the 2022 season, Johnson appeared in 12 games and made 9 starts. He finished with 26 tackles, 2 tackles for loss, 2 pass breakups and 1 interception.
One of his best games at Florida came in the win over South Florida this past season when he had 3 tackles and a key interception in the fourth quarter to set up the game-winning touchdown.

I figured he was going to Auburn. It seems like just about everybody else is.
He was fixin’ to go to Auburn, but the Lawerd told him Missouri was going to be it.
What part of Texas is that in, anyway?
He’s not a good enough player to be wanted at Auburn and not good enough academically to qualify at Vandy. So, Mizzou seems to be a popular destination for unwanted, former Mullen recruits if they want to stay in the SEC.
If staying in the SEC is not required, then Nebraska has become a popular landing spot.
He was qualified to get into the Housing Management: Small Units program at Auburn, but he wanted Mid-sized Units. The former goes up to 4 units per building, and the latter 6-12 units per building.
Johnson is a solid DB and a very good student with plenty of experience. He would have been accepted to UF or Vandy on his own merit out of high school. This kid could also play baseball for both schools. He is a solid character kid from a solid family. It is not a good loss for Florida. I do not understand this one or the two starting lineman leaving. I like Napier but this is concerning to me as a fan.
I don’t think StlGator meant any disrespect, probably more hyperbole than anything.
Leeland is just leeland.
He may be a solid DB and a good student.
He was not a starter and we have plenty of better DBs on the roster and in the class we just signed.
The 2 OL starters that left are a surprise for sure. But many teams have lost more starters, even QBs, than we have so we ain’t doing so bad in comparison
Respectfully…I wish him luck, but this is not concerning for most.
The issue with Johnson is that, given the high level of younger talent coming in at DB, he wasn’t guaranteed to start at UF next season. So, he transferred to a program where he has a very good chance to start.
I can’t blame the kid for that. My point was that he must’ve gotten no such guarantee from Auburn either. Otherwise, why leave the traditional SEC powers in the south to go play at Mizzou?
BTW, if that sounds like disrespect for Mizzou it’s because that’s how I meant it to sound.
Hey StL when I said I didn’t think you meant any disrespect I was talking about the player.
I agree with you that Mizzou is one of the lesser programs in our conference. That is not so much disrespect but just reality
Cojones, I live less than a two-hour drive from Muzzou and consider it one of the many embarrassments of the post-Meyer Gator era that we’ve managed to split all the games we’ve played against that lowly school.
That is right down there with splitting our more recent series with Kentucky and occasionally losing to Vandy. Not a good look for the Mighty Gators!
BTW, I don’t consider it very disrespectful to say Johnson wouldn’t qualify academically at Vandy. Heck, I don’t think I would’ve qualified there academically either. UF had lower academic standards than Vandy back when they accepted me in the 70’s.
Don’t feel bad, Emilio – I was accepted on Academic Probation, which didn’t bode well at all, and wound-up graduating from the University of Tampa after I got back from Vietnam. Just think, back then I couldn’t even spell ‘doctar’, and now I are one. Go figure, but being the first intellectually retarded graduate of my program is still an honor! :)
Smitty, that is ironically the saddest thing of all (that it’s not troubling to most). Mullen’s players were on full display, poor work habits and all. If this inspired purge gets us on the right track sooner, then I’m all for it. Kind of reminds me of Johnny Cash: “….if I coulda known you when you was a little younger…..”.
Doc…no doubt. He seems to play hard, but I saw no real improvement. I always try to keep it respectful as he put on the Gator uniform…which is something most of us would have dreamed to do.
