Do these portal guys get to work out with their current team while they're in the portal? It would be awkward I would think, and if they can't it puts them at a disadvantage with training, diet, etc. while they wait.
I don't think anyone likes the way the game is currently evolving. UGA lost its best returning WR two years in a row as well, and I'm sure OK doesn't like losing Wease.
From the high of the parade to a tragic loss. Devastating.
That 2023 UGA schedule...yeesh. Potential repeat of 2021 where an untested team is smashed in the mouth in the SECCG but gets into the playoff with 1 L. UGA always seems to take a loss at some point that gets their attention back. This season they just happened to win that "loss" vs. OSU.
He's talking about now. When you've won two in a row, you're most definitely the standard. That said, wouldn't surprise me at all if Bama takes it back in 2023. Can't we just say they're two great teams on great runs? It doesn't have to be one or the other.
I appreciate this article. Was wondering if he'd do it when I heard about the bet.
I agree with him too. And he essentially said the same thing before the playoffs started, that Bama deserved it over at least one of the 4 teams.
Yes, they're 11-4 and recently beat Auburn. You may have been distracted by the football team going back-to-back.
It's tough to pull for a rival when you've been pulling against them all season but I'll usually go for the SEC. Only time I ever pulled for the Gators was the BCS NC game vs. Ohio State.
Very well said. It's not the best approach to build around one or two fast skinny guys that probably won't hold up for 13 -15 games.
33-20 Dawgs. Hoping they can lean on the running game and avoid a shootout.
Definitely cool to have flipped in-game coaching experience from a liability to a strength. And not be left to complain about a missed call after a loss!
It will suck to not have Mike Leach in college football next season
Things have changed and now we have the edge in coaching vs. a few years ago when Kirby was learning on the job.
Know what you mean. I felt for the Buckeyes for a moment then remembered how many of those have gone against us.
Yeah, I've heard most of the analysis 3 - 4 times by now. But I didn't know about the OSU RG situation. Will be interesting to watch that interior line play.
Great points but I think you're weighting the Tech game too heavily. They just wanted to get through it healthy. But definitely, edge-setting is a factor as they really miss Nolan there.
Agreed, Tim, I think the travel difference in 2017 was a big factor. Dawgs essentially had two less days to prepare for the final, since they traveled to LA while Bama had a quick flight from New Orleans. Not taking anything away from the Tide, the halftime QB switch was genius and we weren't ready for it, in part due to the long trip out west cutting into our recovery and prep time.
I was thinking they'd do the B1G rematch in round 1 to avoid it potentially being the National Championship game. It would have been justified with TCU losing, since it's two 1-loss non-champs to compare. OSU seems like a better team, not that I've watched much of either team, but the #1 seed should have earned the right to play the lesser team. Those explosive WRs are a challenge.
I just realized I'm going to miss the Dr. Pepper Fansville commercials when the season is over.
The score prediction suggests UGA getting TDs in the red zone, which hasn't been the case. Getting TDs vs. FGs will determine if they cover or not.
How is LSU's d-line depth? When UGA has blown people out, and even when a close game at halftime becomes a comfortable win, our opponent's depth in the trenches has been the primary factor. Honest question as I'm not familiar with LSU's personnel apart from those monster LBs.
Is Les East a real person? Sounds like a perfect made-up name for someone covering LSU.
Kirby will have them up and ready but LSU is likely the most talented team we'll play. And Kelly is a good coach from what I hear, and will be motivated to prove he can win vs. the SEC when he has SEC talent.
Agreed. It's a system that actually rewards a non-division-winner with an extra week's rest if they are able to get into the playoff. And teams are likely to unload their playbook in a conference championship and put more on film for that potential opponent.
We know you change your narrative every week but now it's come to bragging about beating Vandy?
McIntosh has broken through nicely. Latest in a line of guys growing into the role and stepping up when they get their chance, e.g. Chubb, Michel, Swift, Holyfield, White, Cook. Been a great unbroken chain of strong RBs.
