NIL could help, but that's not the answer. The games are pure exhibition games. Top-tier talent will continue to opt-out.
PETA is the number one killer of dogs and cats in the U.S. Their practices are hardly ethical and based on old-school attitudes. I'm not a tree-hugging animal rights person, but I call a spade a spade.
Just watch. They have several schools that need facilities significantly improved. They literally have stadiums that have facilities so small that teams have to bring tents for their players to get dressed. Not to mention inadequate stadium care facilities, practice facilities etc.. So where and how they will use that money, given their overall member history will be interesting
He treated it like a business that makes any CEO, executive, etc unpopular. Took care of his conference financially for the foreseeable future. The interesting thing is will the B1G squander their financial fortunes-we shall see. It's just hard to argue that he didn't leave the conference in better condition than it was 4 years ago. As far as college athletics overall, I don't see what he owed to the good of the sport, he was the commissioner of the B1G, not college athletics overall. Any conference should want its commissioner to represent the well-being of the conference 1st, everything, and everyone else second. As far as changing college football, the SEC took the lead in moving to the super conferences. His approach was only different in that he went national vs regional. Though one could argue the SEC spanning from the east coast to Texas and into Missouri is hardly a regional approach.
It was locked, human tendency is to not change a decision unless something crazy happens. For example, if K State had blown TCU out, we would have likely seen Georgia, Michigan, Ohio State, and Bama in that order. BTW if they were wanting to help the B1G they would have had Michigan and Ohio State at 2/3, thereby guaranteeing a B1G team gets to the championship.
They had already settled on the top 4 going into championship weekend, Georgia, Michigan, TCU, and then USC. They already had Ohio State as a lock a five depending on how the games played out. USC losing obviously got Ohio State in, and TCU's 1 L in their championship game was better than Ohio State's one loss. So there was no way they were dropping TCU to 4 behind Ohio State. That said, just go win, but don't underestimate TCU. I think they may be better than Ohio State.
Ohio State is a good team, They are just about 1 or 2 good players short on the backside of their D.
Ga will either have this wrapped up by halftime, or it will be a one-possession game. Follow me for more prognostication! LOL
I wouldn't get too excited. He had some flashes in 2020, but not much since.
I don't think it was as close in the committee as people would like to think. With Ga & UM holding chaulk, and TCU losing by a walk-off FG it was pretty much set for them. Probably entered their votes into their computers during the 4th quarter of the B1G championship.
To be honest, the Heisman has become a joke over the last 15 years. Most of the voters are in bed on Saturday night by 7:30PM.. Just saying.
Bama's best W is to #20 Texas, which is their only top 25 W BTW. Ohio State has a top 10 win over #9 Penn State and another top 25 win over #21 ND. As far as 3 or 4 Ls in the SEC? Who other than Ga?
If the B1G gets 2 teams in, the meltdown on this site will be epic. LOL. The bottom line is going into the last week of the season-both Michigan and Ohio State control their own destiny. It depends on how it plays out. my money is on a 1 L BiG runner-up getting in over a 2L PAC 12 champ or any 2L SEC team.
Depending on the other conferences play out. Looks like the B1G will likely have an undefeated champ, Clemson has a good shot at running the table. Then there is TCU still alive in the Big 12. I don't see the committee leaving out an undefeated conference champ vs an SEC 1 loss division runner-up.
IDK. Maybe I'm missing something. But the NFL doesn't start playoffs until January, and they don't start Saturday games until week 16. This year that leaves Saturday the 17th wide open. I think that is also well after finals week at most schools.
As the saying goes.. Tell me you know nothing about football, without telling me you know nothing about football. Those are two very talented and good teams. Hard to say they aren't top 4/5 if you look at who's ranked behind them.
What a great game, but does either team, UT and Bama, play defense?? 101 combined points was crazy.
He burned his bridge with Wisconsin. I think they end up settling with Jim Leonard.
It's still early. USC wins out and they will be in the playoffs.
Meatchicken is suspect. Otherwise really no complaints. It will all work itself out.
It's week three. So predicting CFP teams is folly, yet fun. My guess is a 1 L SEC champ vs 3 undefeated conference champs. The B1G and B12 champs, then a toss-up between the ACC and PAC 12 champs if USC manages to run the table.
This right here is why Auburn is its own worst enemy. I know you apologized, but really?
In the current system-the top 4 are selected using fairly subjective criteria. For example, we've seen 2 division runner-ups get in, and repeat games. Not saying the top 12 won't be subjectively selected or, we won't have repeat games, but once the 12 hit the field, it will be decided on the field. For example, if you were a 10 seed, you'd likely have to beat Ohio State/Clemson, Alabama, and another SEC team to win it (probably Georgia). It would be kind of hard to say they aren't true champion.
Purdue couldn't tackle, and they can't run.
SEC dudes here complaining about the playoffs. The SEC has benefited the most from any conference. If you are in the SEC and haven't made it into the playoffs-look at your own conference. The chance of more than 2 SEC teams getting in is zilch. Then if you figure Bama's yearly slot that leaves only one open spot remaining. A 2 L SEC division runner-up isn't getting in over another conference's 1L champion.
I hope today's show isn't an indicator of the season for Gameday. It was horrible.
IDK about the most important game in Utah history, but it can be a key game for them this year. If they win in the Swamp, they can probably drop one and get in the playoffs if they win the PAC.
It will come down to how much value they can bring. This has been going back and forth for several weeks.
