I did not know the Gamecocks were 6-6 after playing 10 games. Interesting.
…an SEC coach told me Wednesday night… No he didn’t.
Maybe Loggains will finally be the OC to use him to his full potential. After games where he did nothing but help the team win the entire Muschamp staff and Satterfield were like "meh" and continued to squander his talent. I'm surprised he came back really but glad he is.
Beamer is thin-skinned no doubt but if you’re going off this clip in the article there’s no issue with how he presented that.
There wasn’t much of an offense to speak of prior to the final two weeks. Lloyd didn’t even play against UT, Bell had a really good game but was hardly “the entire offense”. Neither one was instrumental in the win against Clemson. The team had a total of 55 rushing yards and they had a combined total of 5 receiving yards. That’s just an ignorant take.
More elite players would make the Gators better. Revolutionary. Glad this problem is isolated to Gainesville.
Especially after I those two games. So far those are outliers for the most part. The fanbase seemed to understand they were squandering talent on offense and that was proven in those games. So we’d like a reason to realistically be optimistic but caution is finally being exercised through much of the fanbase from what I can tell. At first glance this potential hire just doesn’t make sense.
Why have a competition only to award both the same? Why have a pre-planned tie breaker in the event that what happened yesterday could have potentially happened? The crowd doesn’t have to like it, it’s not about them anyhow. They could have started a go fund me if it was such a problem.
More than 4 championship caliber teams is debatable at best, and there’s certainly not 12. Expansion won’t end the bickering and talk about who should be in - see March Madness every year. College football’s championship chase is out-dated, that’s just stupid. It used to unique. The uniqueness is fading. Bama vs LSU was what drove the push to the playoff. The playoff failed to eliminate an all SEC title game and an expanded playoff will too. As soon as that happens in the 12 team field there will be a push to expand again. It’s always about money first, which is fine, but the secondary purpose of playoff expansion is to award participation trophies to the other conferences. But whatever, at least by the time we get to 32 teams the Gamecocks will make it a few times.
Suddenly there’s a narrative about UGA’s pass defense. LSU qb’s & wr’a had a great game yesterday enroute to winning the SEC title…/checks notes/ enroute to losing by 20. Danielson made remarks yesterday and now this guy. Guess they forgot about the TN game. All season long the Dawgs have shown up when & how it mattered. On the scoreboard they clobbered the big names in the big games. They had some sleep walk moments for sure but when you’re that good getting excited to play everybody is a challenge. They’ll run whoever they play off the field on their way to a repeat. That’s the entire story there.
Remember the simpler days when computers picked the teams? Bring back the BCS
An SDS writer giving attention to someone being wrong, that's special.
This is the correct take. Saturday was incredible, but it’s presently the anomaly among Satterfield-run offenses at SC and for Rattler here. Clemson’s D is better than TN so we’ll see how Sat goes.
I think stat he meant to put was most points scored by an unranked team against a top 5 team in the poll era. But that is from memory, honestly I am not looking it up, but I think that is what was intended to be stated.
For real? That's the most ridiculous thing Beamer has ever heard. I would fully expect the OC called the plays given that is his job but is it really that ridiculous of a suggestion that someone else was calling the plays? That was a vastly different approach. Finally used all the weapons at his disposal and this with the top two RB's out. They did something they haven't remotely done all season and it's not like they took a step back on offense from 2021. Come on man.
That’s kinda cool, but would be better to quit being 20+ point dogs in their own house.
The article also in the following section speaks of Tennessee's loss.
We're not going down this road. Enjoying that for what it was not even concerned with Clemson until Saturday.
Yep. It’s been known by fans, a couple SEC analysts have already said tonight- these weapons were here all season. How in the world is just now using everyone they have? And his issues aren’t just from 2022. The offense was dreadful for most of last season. Hard to know how much was on him with rotating QB’s and poor OL play but there was evidence he was the problem. That only grow ad this season has progressed.
Gamecock run defense has been an weekness all season. Arkansas made that rather clear. It was rather curious that UK didn’t give the ball to Rodriguez 30x’s that night.
They should go after Kiffin
I had no idea Satterfield said that this week. Props to him. He has no idea what he's doing and makes six figures. We've heard this "Gotta get'em the ball more" before, haven't we? Musclecramp said it regarding Joyner and Doty. Present staff (can't remember if both Beamer and Satt, or just one of them) have said it also regarding Joyner and Doty, and now we'll add Bell to the list. Oh well, I'll say it again, if this guy last beyond the season Beamer is signing his own walking papers.
6-6 is still likely the best case scenario. 4-8 is far from off the table. The win Sat was a good win, but if you have been paying attention to Gamecock football outside of 2011-13 you know this doesn’t mean anything other than it was a good win. If you don’t know that, you’re choosing to believe what you want to just cause you want to.
TV times grow more annoying every season. Seems like beginning last year ESPN decided they needed to begin competing with Fox's noon game, even though its almost always a snooze fest. I don't get excited to watch my team, but as a college football fan in general its becoming more difficult to take in games I'd like to catch. For instance UK - Ole Miss last weekend should have been a what used to be called "primetime game" = night game. I don't know what prime time is anymore. Other than the CBS 3:30 game, the best games should be at night. This noontime business needs to kick rocks.
I doubt the Wildcats have much trouble running it this week.
