Josh Dobbs and the Tennessee Titans left Jacksonville heartbroken Saturday night. In a battle for the AFC South title and a playoff berth, the Titans fell to the Jacksonville Jaguars 20-16. The game-winning score came on a Jacksonville recovery of a turnover ruled a Dobbs fumble.

The Titans were up 16-13 with 3 minutes to go and had the ball. On 3rd-and-6, Dobbs was in the pocket when the ball came out as he was tackled by Rayshawn Jenkins. Jacksonville’s Josh Allen recovered the ball and returned it for a touchdown. The play was ruled a fumble on the field and confirmed by replay officials upon review.

Dobbs, a former Tennessee Volunteers standout, felt his arm was going forward and attempting a pass.

“I felt like my arm was going forward,” Dobbs said after the game, per The Tennessean. “When you throw the ball and the ball goes forward after the guy hits you — I’m a physics guy. It’s pretty simple that it’s going forward. But as I said, I haven’t seen the play. So I don’t know when he hit me in the act of throwing. When you’re on the road, they do a great job of not showing replays of big plays. I’ll check it out on film and see, but that was definitely a tough one.”

Dobbs, making his second-career NFL start, went 20-of-29 for 179 yards and a touchdown and an interception. He also had 32 yards rushing.
