Hayes: Nick Saban knows the end is here. Just look at his final, desperate ballot
It doesn’t really matter. He will be the only coach to put them at #2.
Both UGA and Bama have a tall order to fill in replacing their QB1 next season. Sure UGA has an easy schedule but winning it all at this point isn’t likely. We have seen beck in garbage time only. Can he sustain a championship season in the SEC? I hope so, but I am not holding my breath.
They may want to address this with Stetson or it just makes it a popularity contest and invalidates the entire hall. He put up the numbers, and more importantly, the wins to be named all American. The media just sat back and waited on him to fail and prove them right.
Stetson out played every heisman winner and contender he played the Past two seasons in head to head matchups and got no credit for any of it until it was all over and too late.
Over the last 5-6 years the NCAA has had two dominant teams, they just happen to be from the SEC. The 12-team playoff will show the true depth of the SEC unless it’s manipulated from keeping too many SEC teams in it.
Regardless of rankings, the 5th-8th ranked sec teams would be top 2-3 in any other conference. Mediocre
Mizzou led UGA for 55 minutes. Give that team an offense and they are a top 15 team.
Best way for him to learn from his mistakes, that he keeps repeating, are to be fired. Let him pick up with another team and hopefully truly learn from it and improve as a person. Hate to see a Dawg act like a pup, but he needs to grow up.
Kirby’s defense giving up 71 points and 900 yards passing in The last two games isn’t Stetsons fault. Maybe don’t throw your QB under the bus when he is the reason you won the last two games.
Part of Stetsons issues were situational. He was throwing on third and long a lot after two failed run attempts. The int was the right decision but the turf monster grabbed him as he stepped up to throw. He made some bad decisions/throws too but when you throw 34 times, every decision/throw won’t be perfect.
Our d can’t cover the pass In The middle, been like that all season. With a depleted OLB room, Duggan will be running plenty and we better have an answer for it.
If Nussmeier isn’t QB1 at LSU, he will be somewhere and they will win games unless the SEC championship was a fluke where he threw 300 yards in a half against one of the best defenses in the nation.
Makes sense to me. It was a close win over Bama but UT is now without the guy that got them there.
Heisman? No
Grossly under appreciated? Absolutely.
SBIV makes the OLine seem better than they are. They are good but his sack numbers are low because he does leave the pocket often and makes plays on his feet and through the air while scrambling.
Another that may have to be replaced for very different reasons than those listed above is Todd Monken if he leaves UGA for a HC job somewhere. I hope it’s not the case but success is usually followed with reward.
How is the QB on the #1 team in the nation NOT on the list? He is second in the league in passing yards (more than hooker), 4th in completion percentage, but more importantly the only undefeated QB in the league.
Uga was never trailing in this game. MSU closed the gap to 5 before half on a punt return but otherwise the game wasn’t close at any point.
Oregons opponents 37-35 combined. And whose defenses average to be about 80th in Points allowed per game. Their win margin is 8pts per game.
LSU was 10th last week. Their opponents are 50-31, averaging 45th in defensive PPG, and they have an average win margin of over 12 pts per game.
Comparatively, Oregon is not a top 10 team.
Top 10 teams don’t lose a game by 46 points (Oregon) in any week of the season, regardless of who the opponent is.
124-33
Nix’s aggregate score in 4 losses to UGA with two different teams.
A fifth game would be the same results on another day and Nix would say “If we played them again on a Tuesday in March at 4PM after a thunderstorm, we would win”
Bennett looked like his early season self? He had 25 passing yards at halftime.
Dogs struggled with sloppy play and bennett was a little off on his passes. Easily missed 2-3 TD passes on the long ball and several 3rd down passes were long, wide or high, but the run game showed up to take the pressure off.
I am not making a case that Bennett should be #1, only that Young shouldn’t be. He hasn’t done anything all that impressive thus far this season and isn’t leading SEC QB’s in ANY meaningful stat category.
Instead Bennett is ranked 7th with nearly 700 yards passing 3 TDS and 2 more running in less than 6 Qtrs playing time including plucking the then-ranked #12 ducks defense with ease.
But Bennett isn’t ranked #1 while posting pedestrian stats (213 YDS, 1TD) and almost losing a game to an unranked team playing with an injured backup QB.
“Young has thrown for 408 yards and 6 touchdowns in Alabama’s 2-0 start…”
While playing against the #50 and #111 ranked defenses. #GOAT
Baseball used to hold itself in check. If someone did something over the line, next batter up got hit with a fastball for his teammate’s behavior. Enter the sissy era where the pitcher gets ejected for that and players can do what they want with no recourse.
It’s to the point now where players get suspended for ribbing each other on the field if one player gets upset by a comment.

Hoover is like Omaha in that it’s the geographic center of the SEC. It is also a fantastic place to hold the tournament. The amenities outside the stadium include ample parking for the RVers, and a 3-year old full baseball complex designed for the teams to have practice and warm-up facilities, including a second field that mimics the dimensions of the stadium field and a huge fan zone next to the stadium. You put it on the fringe of the SEC (Tampa/Houston) and attendance drops off with the amenities.
NIL money is different for Bama. There are no pro teams taking away big sponsorship money in Alabama. The whole state and its residents are focused on Alabama and Auburn, who are both national brands (Bama more than Auburn, but still).
Bama’s freshman class a couple years ago had more out of state than in state students. Not being in a big city isn’t affecting them in the least. They have a huge rabid fan base with little else to do in the sports world.
He was going 60 in a 40 and a car pulled out in front of him. A true hardened criminal.
Meanwhile in T-town over the last few years, players have only been arrested for DUI, armed robbery, beating students unconscious for vending machine money, credit card fraud, possession of stolen firearms, and rape (committed player not yet in T-town, but high character nonetheless)
Was getting burton sloppy seconds? He was out best WR. That was a huge get for Bama. And if Washington leaves it’s because he wants to play and he is 3rd in depth behind two future NFL stars. More embarrassment of riches than sloppy seconds.
“Miller wrote that he appreciated the support he received at Ohio State, and he’s finding new ways to help players within the Buckeye program”
Hopefully in helping others, he will find peace and purpose to carry on.
Selfish, me first attitudes don’t work well when you are part of a team. Whether needed or not, when you are part of a team, you act like it.
In his own words:
“Hopefully I live to at least 80, so we’ll say I have 60 years to not play football. I’m going to play football this next year.”
No further explanation needed.
So many variables. For Arkansas, they went from the perennial doormat of the west to competitive again. You expect major attendance changes.
For the rest, teams have 6 home games and 2-3 are cupcakes every year. Hard to continually sell out and fill up a stadium to see a guaranteed 40-pt romp.
Speaking of sell out, attendance is measured by how many actually enter the game, not how many tickets are sold. You may sell the ticket but if 15% don’t show up, it’s still an 85% attended game even though it’s “sold out”.
There are a lot more neutral site games-usually against good teams. At home those games offset the low attendance from the cupcakes, now you don’t get that in those years. At those sites, many of the stadiums are smaller than the home field. Not as many tickets to sell
