Mizzou-Wake Forest Gasparilla Bowl low attendance called out on social media
The 2022 Gasparilla Bowl is not exactly a hot ticket. The Mizzou-Wake Forest matchup did not draw many fans to Raymond James Stadium in Tampa.
As one can see on the ESPN broadcast, it’s mostly empty seats for the Tigers and Demon Deacons Friday night.

The lackluster attendance generated some social media chatter.
I know airports in the Midwest are shut down, but they just shut down today.

Mike Kelly guesses there might be 10,000 fans at Raymond James Stadium at the Gasparilla Bowl. Howard Richards: “If you’re being generous.”

@DrewD977ESPN Something I’ve noticed the attendance for these bowl games have been awful and they have been entertaining matchups in my opinion. Just an observation.

They need to do a better job with these bowls, being regional to conferences. Bowl attendance is putrid and they don’t do themselves any favors by putting teams nowhere near where they’re located.

The attendance for these bowl games is Terrible x 10.

It's a good thing Drinkwitz ducked ku so that both Mizzou fans in attendance could watch him get his ass beat by Winston-Salem's finest.

The timing of a Dec. 23 game in Tampa for Mizzou and Wake Forest is likely to blame. It’s late to be in Tampa for those wishing to celebrate Christmas elsewhere. Airline travel is also a nightmare for many right now with numerous cancelations.
It’s a 14-10 Wake Forest lead in the 2nd quarter. The game is airing on ESPN.
