David Reese, former Florida LB, announces Pac-12 commitment
David Reese is headed out West.
The former Florida linebacker announced via Instagram on Sunday that he will use a 6th year of eligibility in 2023 at Cal.
Reese spent 5 seasons in Gainesville but announced last month that he was entering the transfer portal.
The 6-1, 238-pounder played sparingly during his first four seasons but he appeared in all 13 games for the Gators in 2022 and was in on 2 tackles.
Reese, a native of Fort Pierce, Florida, was a highly regarded high school recruit.
As a member of the 2018 class, Reece was rated by the 247Sports Composite as a 4-star prospect and the 20th-best outside linebacker in the country.
In addition to Florida, Reese was also offered scholarships by the likes of Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, Florida State, Miami, and Michigan.
God speed, young man.
Having lived just up the road from Fort Pierce for several years, I can understand the kid’s desire to stay away as long as possible. Wish him well out west, he seems like a good kid.
This has nothing to do with Fort Pierce, this is another example of a prized recruit that wants to get as far away from Gainesville and the current staff as possible. He chose well, Berkley is a bastion of Americana. What every college town, and American city in fact, should strive to emulate
Why palley, it certainly must have something to do with Ft Pierce, it’s right there in the article..and I quote, “Reese, a native of Fort Pierce, Florida”…Fort Pierce is the only city I know of that makes Gainesville look like the two sins of Chri$tmas…comfort and joy.
Hope he has a great season next year!
Rock on, Reese!
Note where Reese landed. Once again, a pillar of Mullen’s recruiting ended up at a lower tier P5 school out of the SEC. If he were any good, why wouldn’t Ole Miss, UK or SCAR take him?
Nevertheless, many “helpful” fans of other SEC programs frequently respond to Mullen players hitting the portal like the sky is falling around “Sunbelt Billy.”
Evidently, all Napier’s doing is clearing the Gator locker room of inferior players for SEC competition.
Yes. I wish all these kids well and hope they are able to get more playing time and enjoy the rest of their college careers. But it’s hard not to notice that most of the moves are to the G5, PAC-12, etc.
Obviously you don’t get that, when Reese stops playing college football, he will have a bachelor’s degree from UF and a master’s degree from Cal, two of the top public universities in the country. I think education means something to Mr. Reese.
We can only hope that’s the case, because he won’t be playing football on Sundays.
GOOD!!!! If you were part of the defense last year, you’re part of the problem. There’s a reason you didn’t play much in your first 4 years. Good ridence.
