2023 NFL Draft odds: 13 SEC standouts among favorites to go No. 1 overall
The 2023 NFL Draft will be held in Kansas City from Thursday, April 27, to Saturday, April 29. When commissioner Roger Goodell steps to the podium, there’s a good chance the first name he’ll call will be a former SEC star.
Over at DraftKings, there are odds on who will be the No. 1 overall pick in the draft, and 13 SEC players are listed.
Obviously, only 4 have a real chance as things stand at this point of going with the first pick — Alabama QB Bryce Young, Kentucky QB Will Levis, Georgia DL Jalen Carter and Alabama edge rusher Will Anderson Jr.
Here’s a list of the odds for each of the 13 SEC stars to go No. 1 overall:
- Bryce Young, QB, Alabama: -135
- Will Levis, QB, Kentucky: +550
- Jalen Carter, DL, Georgia: +550
- Will Anderson Jr., Edge, Alabama: +750
- Anthony Richardson, QB, Florida: +10000
- Hendon Hooker, QB, Tennessee: +20000
- Jalin Hyatt, WR, Tennessee: +20000
- Kelee Ringo, CB, Georgia: +20000
- Kayshon Boutte, WR, LSU: +25000
- BJ Ojulari, Edge, LSU: +25000
- Eli Ricks, CB, Alabama: +25000
- Jahmyr Gibbs, RB, Alabama: +25000
- Nolan Smith, Edge, Georgia: +25000
With the NFL Combine and Pro Days still to come, it’ll be interesting to see which players shine and which struggle.
There’s also a possibility of a trade up to the No. 1 spot, currently held by the Chicago Bears. Anything can happen between now and April!

Will Levis shouldn’t be in the top half of this list. I know there are some NFL teams that are really needing a QB but this guy isn’t it. Brock Purdy was Mr. Irrelevant and he’s playing for the NFC championship this weekend with San Francisco. Will Levis is not first round talent. At least he didn’t show it this past season.
I agree with you concerning Levis. He has heart, plays with a lot of grit but I cannot see him anywhere near the level of player that Bryce Young is.
The other player that I see that is far, far too high is Anthony Richardson(his being rated even in the same ball park as Hooker is a joke). AR15 did not impress anyone with his arm. I can’t see him drafted in the first two(2) rounds. Whereas Hooker ran the Vols offense close to perfection & has a great arm.
Agreed. Richardson should be compared to Milton in my opinion, not Hooker. Both guys have a cannon for an arm but can be wildly inaccurate. Somebody else that never really impressed me was Boutte with LSU. I think the talent is there, but he never just showed out to deserve a first round pick.
Jalen Carter should go first since the Bears got the first pick. Anderson is good but doesn’t have the size or explosiveness on the edge like a Myles Garrett or Von Miller. Still a safe top 5 pick but Carter is the safer bet here.
Boutte’s attitude in 2022 was horrible, pouting on the bench & I believe the OC chose to not throw many balls to him as the result. Boutte & Coach Kelly did not get along at all.
