NFL Mock Draft 2023: Daniel Jeremiah includes 12 SEC stars in Round 1 projections
The 2023 NFL Draft is only a couple of months away, as it will take place in Kansas City at the end of April.
When the first round commences, plenty of SEC athletes are sure to hear their names called in the first 31 picks (the first round is normally 32 picks, but the Miami Dolphins had to forfeit theirs).
NFL Network analyst Daniel Jeremiah released his first mock draft of the 2023 cycle this week and he had a dozen SEC standouts going in Round 1, including as the first 4 picks overall:
- No. 1 — Jalen Carter, DL, Georgia — Chicago Bears
- No. 2 — Bryce Young, QB, Alabama — Houston Texans
- No. 3 — Will Anderson Jr., Edge, Alabama — Arizona Cardinals
- No. 4 — Will Levis, QB, Kentucky — Indianapolis Colts
- No. 13 — Broderick Jones, OL, Georgia — New York Jets
- No. 14 — Brian Branch, DB, Alabama — New England Patriots
- No. 15 — Nolan Smith, Edge, Georgia — Green Bay Packers
- No. 17 — O’Cyrus Torrence, OL, Florida — Pittsburgh Steelers
- No. 19 — Emmanuel Forbes, CB, Mississippi State — Tampa Bay Buccaneers
- No. 22 — Anthony Richardson, QB, Florida — Baltimore Ravens
- No. 27 — Darnell Washington, TE, Georgia — Cincinnati Bengals
- No. 28 — BJ Ojulari, Edge, LSU — Denver Broncos
Who will improve their stock as the NFL Combine and Pro Days get underway? We’ll find out over the next few weeks!
4 more first rounders? I’ll take it! I’d be a bit surprised N. Smith and D. Washington go higher than K. Ringo, though. I think the only 1st round UGA “locks” at this point are J. Carter and B. Jones. Smith, Washington, & Ringo are all borderline in my book and might all be round 2 guys, pending how they do at combine. I would also throw K. McIntosh into that second group. That dude is a straight up player that can do it all from the RB position!
Anthony Richardson at #22 seems like a dream for AR15, nothing more. A first round projection for a Quarterback that never-ever impressed anyone with his arm(only that he could chunk it very far). Plus when his self-confidence issues are added to the mix; not good for a potential NFL QB.
Will Levis at #4 also seems like some pie-in-the-sky thinking. Yes he has a lot of heart/grit/desire but his overall talent level ? Plus considering his injuries ?
Will Levis does not to be a first round pick. He needs to get behind an older QB to learn and go from there. Maybe a 5th round or later pick to Minnesota or even Kansas City. I don’t see him benefiting Indianapolis at all. Surprised to not see Hyatt on this list but AR15 is here to the Ravens. Overall, most of these guys make sense.
