Todd Monken, Georgia OC, reportedly drawing interest for NFL jobs
Todd Monken has guided the Georgia Bulldogs’ offense to back-to-back national championships and has helped former walk-on QB Stetson Bennett reach stardom.
Monken has been with Kirby Smart in Athens since the 2020 season. Prior to joining Georgia’s staff, Monken was the offensive coordinator for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers from 2016-18 and the Cleveland Browns in 2019.
Could a return to the NFL ranks come this offseason? Per ESPN insider Jeremy Fowler, Monken is drawing interest from NFL teams to potentially become their offensive coordinator in 2023:
One college coach I'm hearing has garnered NFL OC interest from teams this cycle: Georgia offensive coordinator Todd Monken. Has had a successful run with the national champion Bulldogs and is also former OC of Bucs and Browns.

Monken will have to replace Bennett this offseason if he stays at Georgia, but the Bulldogs have Carson Beck waiting in the wings to potentially take over as the team’s starting quarterback.
Will he look to move back to the NFL? Or will he stay and go for a three-peat at Georgia? We’ll see what sort of NFL OC offers materialize for Monken in the coming days and weeks.
He gone!
Lol, Monken is the hillbilly killa but he’s just a grasshopper, Kirby is the grandmaster hillbilly killa
Kinda like y’all’s National Championship dreams!! GO DAWGS old hop along!! ??
Boy you rednecks surly are worried. Maybe I should call you Bluenecks considering the politics in GA
Nah, we just love putting another log in the Hobobilly fire. Haven’t had this much fun since 1998.
Haven’t you heard? Theyare officially The Deformed Dogs.
Worried about what hillbilly?
We won the champ in 1998 so why would you have fun back then.
Stupid.
Oh, right. The mind tends to wander or forget things that happened so long ago.
Monken is the highest paid assistant coach in college football making just a tick over $2,000,000.00/year. The average NFL offensive coordinator salary in 2022 is $1,000,000.00/year with a range of $500,00.00 – $2,000,000.00. Monken will no doubt get a bump for 2023 from UGA if he stays. Monken won’t go to the NFL for the money unless some owner is ready to set a new salary record for NFL OC’s. Monken’s only path to a serious salary upgrade would be a HC position in either the NFL or college.
The best way to true wealth is not chasing the next, best high paying job but instead secure a good position and stay in that position for the long haul; don’t jump around chasing pay raises which eventually lead to pay cuts and missing time in the workforce (unless you are named Will Muschamp.) If Monken does 10 years at UGA he probably grosses $25,000,000.00 or more in total salary.
Monken has been everything from a GA to a college HC to an NFL OC, I think it really gets down to what does Monken enjoy the most and what does he want to do with the last fourth his coaching career. If he enjoys coaching offense, winning and making money then UGA is the ticket.
Please Todd go ! I think the entire sec would throw in money as well to any team he would go to in the nfl. Give Kirby credit as he has had some great coordinators under him .
Haven’t seen you babbling about “backdoor” lately
did total domination of the turds and UGA’s 4th NC do the trick, or, did cojones break up with you?
I hope he loves his job at Georgia more than shiny things.
I hope he and Kirby retire in Athens.
But if wishes were fishes, we’d all cast our nets in the sea.
He’s already the top paid assistant. If he left it wouldn’t be for a dramatic pay raise, it’d be like 20% or so. I feel like the only question would be if he wants to move on to a new challenge or stay locked in. Hopefully some NFL team just gives him a number to take to Kirby to get his well deserved raise and gets back to work
I’m sure Monken will consider any offer that comes his way, as he should.
He has previously stated that, he just wants to win. He would rather be in Alaska with a winning team than be in some great city coaching a losing team.
After going back-to-back Georgia will very likely see a recruiting bump, and Monken has something to do with that. If Monken really just wants to be the coach of a winning program, then he already has that right where he is. Georgia will give him a good bump in salary, and the recruits that’re considering Georgia is seemingly at an all-time high.
Does he really have a good reason to go anywhere else? I hope he stays, and I think he will…
He can probably make the about the same money in Athens. Less hours in the League since you aren’t recruiting all the time, but that’s not his main job with the Dawgs anyway.
Hey Josh Brooks, just write out a blank check and put it on Monken’s desk! Pay this man and let’s continue this ride.
